Do you have an idea if prednisone increase weight. I'm depressed I follow diet and do my best to avoid fat foot,i do half an hour excercises nothing help. What should I do ?????????????

I feel that prednisone + synthroid increase that weight am I right ? I need your help ??????? I started prednisone a month ago my weight increased 10 pounds. How I will look after four weeks ?Waoooooooooooo :?: :?: :?: :?:

Yes and no. Your thyroid is responsible for regulating your metabolism. Synthroid is synthetic t4. Once in your body this will convert to t3 at a 4:1 ratio. (so for every 4mg of synthroid/t4 you take, it will convert to 1mg of t3.) taking in synthroid will not slow down your metabolism, but rather speed it up! ... It's a common weight loss drug on par with clenbuterol and ephedrine. Very effective if used properly.

However, prednisone *will* cause weight gain. It will contribute to fluid retention and to increased appetite. There really is not much you can do about this other than schedule your meals and stick to a proper diet. This is a very common complaint with prednisone users and often causes many women to fall into depression. The only thing you could really do is talk to your doctor about taking an alternate medication to be honest. And yes, you are right.. You will likely continue to gain weight up to around +25lb or so. :(

Thank you for your information. I have to talk to my doctor it will be hard to handel this weight. I have arthritis and knees pain, increasing weight will increase my knees pain. I already talked to my family doctor she replied what do u want pain or weight ? I will discuss it with my specialist.

Get off the predisone..If you can..I took it in my early 20's and went from 135lbs up to 189 lbs in just a few weeks..I had every known side effect to this drug..And now my body is scared for life..On my inner thighs, underarms and especially my tummy from gaining weight..It has now been 13yrs since I took this drug and still carry and extra 20lbs on me..It also made me incontinent as it affects your bladder etc..Take it from me if you don't have to take this terrible drug pls don't..It also weakend all of my muscles yet another side effect..Thanks
