2 Lung Nodules What Are They? Cancer Or Not Please Help Posted: 03-15-05 07:19am
Hi, I am a 40 year old woman who a year
and a half ago during a xray for somethig
else was found with 2 1 centimeter lung
nodules.Since then I have been going at 6
month intervals to see if there is a
change so far no change they havent
grown,at my insistence I had a pet scan
done of whole body pet scan normal I
wanted that done in case there was cancer
oin other area and the nodule was
secondary spot.My mother died at age 47 of
adenocarcinoma of the lung this is why I
am more scared.Also I had benign tumors
inthe past.My next cat scan is june my
question is this how long do I have to go
get these cat scans before it is totally
safe to determine that these nodules are
benign? Do I have to go my wholke life
checking them?How can I have peace of mind
with this?: they wont biopsy them they are
so small they dont recommend it.Is there
any definite time line to growth taht if
tehy havent grown in certain time its
definitely benign also I do not smoke I
did as a teenager for 2 years

Hello
there is no definite timeline. While it
seems safe to say that these are very
likely to be benign, it is important to
have it monitored.

Hi/you say there is no definite timeline?
Does that mean that I will have to be
monitored indefinitley? And if thast the
case why dont they just biopsy? Im very
confused I really thought like 3 years was
the guideline any further info on
timelines for this would help

Hi I just was told I had both of these on
my lungs. Does that fungus cause nodules
also I have more than3 in each lung very
small one I haft to go back in 3mo's for a
ct scan.

hi im a mom of 4. 41yrs. old. never
smoked. I was told in march 2008 that i
had phnamonia that started my first chest
scan which showed 0.3cm.nodule in the
anrerior basal lateral basel junction of
the left lower lobe. 3mo. latter had
another lung scan nothing changed. but
then i had to go again 3mo. latter for
lung scan which changed drasticly got
worse. it shows multiple small hazy
nodulars densities involving the lungs
bilaterally predominating within the upper
lobes their is also a 0.7cm solid apearing
nodule which has developed in the inferior
segment of the left lingula since prior
exam. I am having to wait on Dr. who is
referring me to shands theoretic ongoloy
department. I dont understand any of this
medical words and the wait on Dr. app. is
so stressful not knowing what to do. I
think the worse and hope for the best, but
not understanding is making it more
stressful and hard to hold my self
together for my 4yr. old, 6yr. and 2
teenagers. what is going on with my body?
