How soon can a hpt detect a failed pregnancy? Does the pregnancy hormone stick around for awhile? I'm 8 weeks and spotting like I did the last time when I miscarried...Would a hpt be a waste of $ & time?

In my last pregnancy I started spotting and that ended in a miscarriage.. I got pregnant again this time and started spotting also.. I thought that it was another miscarriage.. But it wasn't now im 21 weeks.. Go talk to your doctor.. They can do a blood test to see where your level is at... It may not be anything bad this time... Good luck

Catt- yeah there is no use in taking a pregnancy test because thet detect as little as 25 mg of hcg's in your urine. When I had my miscarriage even after everything came out the pregnancy test was still coming back positive for 2 weeks after that. So if you take one right now its gonna still be positive. The only way to know if your miscarrying is to get a blood test which actually gives specific numbers. At different stages in pregnancies there are specific number of hcg's.. I remember when they first did a test on me at 8 weeks I was at 20,000 and then the next day I was at 12,000 and then downhill from here. So they only way to know is to go to your doctor and get a blood test.......Otherwise it would be a waste of money
