I am a post gastric-by-pass patient. I had my operation february of 2004 and was feeling fine until now. I think I have ibs. I had an edoscopy, colonoscopy, cat-scan, ultrasound done and found nothing. My main symptom is lost of "stinky gas".
it seems like everytime I eat (the little that I eat), I become bloated and a few minutes later, the gas comes. The gas usually last during the night. It has a very foul oder to it. I am currently taking a powder laxative to help me produce a bowl movement everyday, but that doesn't always hold true. I'm not sure what to eat with ibs, so i'm turning to ehealth for some advice. If anyone has had this, please help me!
Thanks. Lisa

Dairy products and red meats are not recommended for any one with digestion troubles. Maybe it is the laxitive that is giving you the odours. Try to use a natural laxitive fom a health food store. It would be to your benifit to go to a good bookstore and find ibs books. They have some great ones with diets and a lot of info. Even if you dont have ibs these diets are good for anyone with troubles. They are what got me though a lot of confusion.
Good luck

If your stomach rumbles and gurgles all day does this mean I have ibs?

If you have ibs you would have problems eating certain foods, these foods will give gas and heavy bloating. Alot of the time this becomes very painfull because it takes a while before you can pass it.Other times you just get gas with everything you eat or drink. Part of ibs is that you usually cant have proper bowel movements, either to much or not enough. Each person has to find out what they can eat without reactions.Certain foods are not good for anyone with trouble, like red meat, dairy products and whole grain foods. These tend to take longer to digest and in turn creates havoc on your system. Pull it up on line and compare yourself, the info given is pretty accurate.
