Please Give Me Some Advice Posted: 03-24-05 00:55am
3 years ago I started having pain on my
top right stomach area, after several
visits to the doctor and many tests, they
told me there was nothing wrong and sent
me to a shrink. After a year of this and
bowel movements becoming severely painful
I landed in the hospital from bad bleeding
coming from the rectum. I was in the
hospital for 5 days and my regular doctor
and a specialist from another town said I
had crohn's/colonitis ulseritis. On the
day I was leaving the hospital the
specialist from here came in and said he
didn't believe I had that and just wanted
to watch me for a while. After a year of
going to him with the pain and bowel
movements getting worse and him still
"just watching me" I lost my health
insurance. I haven't seen a doctor in a
year and the pain is bad. I always have
diaria and lots of mucous comes with it.
What should I do? I can't afford to go
to a doctor to have him tell me "he'll
watch me" but I don't want something
really bad to happen because i'm not
getting any health care. Any advice will
be great!

I'm so sorry to hear that you have been
through so much. I'm not sure how
insurance works but if you really need
help, cant you get it from any hospital.
Your life is your first priority. Go to
the hospital and tell them about your
problem. Maybe they can helpw ith your
health problme and insurance. Best of
luck to you. Take care and i'll be
praying for you.
Most hospitals have a program for
uninsured and low income patients. Check
with the outpatient department of your
local hospital. If they do not, look
around until you find one that does.
Have you had an exploratory laparotomy or
a diagnostic laparoscopy performed on you
before? I work with general surgeons
everyday, and 3 out of 5 cases involve the
bowels. I would be glad to discuss your
case with them and see if they have any
suggestions. Would that be okay with
you?

Yes, I would be glad for any advice at
all. I recently pulled up my hospital
records and found that the biopsy came
back crohn's as well. I've contacted the
doctor's office who said he didn't believe
it, to ask him to reconsider my case but
his office said they would for $450.00.
I'm beginning to get a lot worse, losing
lots of weight. So any advise you can get
from your office would be very helpful!
Thank you very much for your time and
caring!!!
