Anxiety And Pregnancy
Posted: 03-27-05 13:42pm

This is my situation. I am 28 married healthy female. My husband and I are going to start to try for a baby after our summer vacation (end of august) since we have agreed upon this I have been getting racing thoughts about every bad situation that can possibly happen with conceiving, pregnancy, new borns, toddlers, teenagers....Etc. I am constantly worrying about not being able to get pregnant, or if I do get pragnant will I miscarry? Will my baby have a birth defects?, will my child develop add? Will my teenager become a bully or premiscuous?....Ahhhhhhhhhhhh every bad worry is constantly going through my brain. It happens from the time I wake up in the morning until I go to bed...Hec I even dream about it!! Am I acting normal? Has anybody else experienced this generalized anxiety before they started having children? I know having children is scary but the whole process just terrifies me!! Help someone please ease my nerves...

I will be seeing my therapist about this hopefully next week, so I will be getting medical advice, but I just want to know if I am alone on this one?

You are having very normal thoughts sweetie! You still may want to talk to your counsler but as a future father, I force feed my wife her vitamins with extra folic acid and salad and soups and even took her to the er lastnight because I knew she was dehydrated and they ended up putting a litre of fluids in her becasue she was dehydrated.

I am a total worry wart when it comes to my wife and now my (son) baby. I dont know what the baby will be but I would love for it to be a boy. :)

if you were not worried about all of the things that you are worried about, you probably shouldnt be thinking about parenthood. We need more parents that want to raise children not just have them and let tv or society raise them.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife. Why is she not eating and drinking? Is it the morning sickness? How far along are you guys?

It is morning sickness.

She finally had some chicken broth and noodles along with some ritz crackers.

She went from week 1 through 7 with no sickness at all and now in week 8 she is in "god awful" shape but I have kept her in bed all day and fed her and filled her water so she has cold water to drink and basically I just keep my eye on her.

You will do wonderfully, I dont know about sickness but otherwise if you are worried sick about the baby now, you will be awesome parents when it does happen.
