Deadly Skin Cancer???
Posted: 03-28-05 09:02am

I've had this clearish, pink, shiny flat round spot just over the back of my left shoulder for 12 years. It has never changed, growed, bled, crusted, oozed, or anything. It's just there. I never knew that skin cancers could actually spread inside you til about a year and a half to two years ago. I injured that same shoulder...Strained actually about five years ago...I think the doc said tendonitis. Maybe somebody out there knows. Anyway, I sometimes still have pain or soreness and sometimes it seems to radiate down my arm to my elbow. Lately, i've also had some pain in my left side of my neck, chest area around collar bone, and left side of my head. I am just wondering if this spot on me has never changed size, shape, color, bled, oozed or any other thing...How likely are the other problems related? Could this be a skin cancer that has ravanged through parts of my body or is it stress/heart related? I'd just appreciate some input. I am going to the doctor toward the end of this week for a cold and will address the issue. It just seems that if my symptoms are related to skin cancer the skin lesion itself would have had some change over 12 years. I just am concerned with three small boys and a hubby I don't want to leave.

Thanks.

How big is the spot? Even if it were cancer and it did spread, it usually goes into your system and goes to your lymph nodes, it would not cause your shoulder to hurt in such a manner (or if it could it would be rare). All of your symptoms point to reoccuring tendonitis (which I have myself). When the tendon in the shoulder gets irritated, it can radiate down the arm and up the neck like you said. If you are worried about the spot, you can probably just have your general physician take a glance at it. The fact that it hasn't changed size or shape though is a good sign and means it probably isn't anything to worry about.
