After your baby drops, how long is it until you go into labor? I went to the hospital last night because there was a lot of pressure on my lower abdomen, so they did a stress test and everything was fine. They said my pain was caused by the baby dropping and now he/she is putting weight on my ligaments.

In Due Time
Depends on how far along you are. I went into labour about three weeks after I dropped. Keep count of how often you feel the baby and if you leak any fluid call your dr right away. My fluid was a slow leak not a big gush. Good luck and sleep now!

yea tiffany, how far along are you? Just curious cause i'm 32 weeks and sometimes feel extreme pressure real low. Did you feel it happening? I'm guessing no? But to answer you...I heard it can take a couple weeks before you go into labor once your baby drops. But usually with your first baby, its within 24 hrs....At least according to things i've read!

i am 34 weeks. I did feel a lot of pain in my who-who. The night before I had braxton hicks contraction for 8 hours, every 20-30 minutes. I was going to go to the hospital then because I was not sure if they were real contractions. Now today I have been having cramps that feel like menstal cramps. I hope my baby stays in until at least 37 weeks.

so....They said they are sure the baby has dropped? Seems early at 34 weeks but just means you may have pre-term labor. Don't let it worry you hun, of course youwant to carry to 37 but with today's technology...If the baby were to be born soon, chances of survival are great. 34 weeks is not bad. My sis in law works with babies that are born 28-32 weeks and most are healthy. Everything will be ok...I can imagine your uncomfortable with the pressure though. I would guess labor is coming soon for you since youdropped. Good luck with everything...Please keep me posted!!!! I'm 32 weeks and curious about labor.....Feel free to pm me!

;o)

yeah they are sure, because that was what was putting pressure on my ligaments. I thought it was early too, but the hospital didnt say anything. I am getting excited that we will soon be a family, but since going to the hospital, I am scared. Its almost become sureal that it is almost here. Are you nervous?

nervous???? Oh yes indeed!!!! Very. It's my first! And i'm being induced which they say can be even more painful..But everyone is different. I think it may happen for you soon. Do you know if your dialated at all? Be sure to mention the dropping at your next regular dr appt, that is important because they will most likely check you for dialation.

why are you getting induced? Thats exciting, your baby will be here soon :) I heard being induced is more painful too. Good luck with everything. Im not sure if im dialated at all. I will ask next week when I see my ob. Im worried that she will put in the hospital for toxemia and high blood pressure. Oh well, as long as my angel is fine.

Even if the baby is born before 37 weeks....It has a good chance of survival if the lungs are developed enough.....Which by week 34 I think it is. I've seen plenty of little ones born like that and they all turn out fine unless something major is up with them...And even then a lot of them still pull through. Just keep breathing and remember stress hormones are bad for the baby. The more relaxed you are the better it'll be and the more you can enjoy it! Make sure you keep us all up to date and good luck!!

:d
being induced is painful if they break your bag of water at the beginning. Being induced can also cause your uterus to over contract which happened with my first. However for my second baby it was a breeze I just told the doctor that I didn't want my water broke before hand
