Hey girl, I felt like you when I was 16
and barely starting those things! Well
its really simple but it depends on what
kind you use. There is one brand I cant
remember whats its called but you just
unrap it and stick it in yourself to plug
it (lol) and then your good for 2-4 hours.
Or whatever the box says. Its really
easy once you get the hang of it. They do
have instructions too so dont worry. With
the other ones you just hold on the
package thing, stick it in and push the
cotton plug thing in and toss out the
package part. I dont know what those are
called sorry! But hope I helped some!
But go to the store and look at all of
them so you can see which ones you would
like best.

When you buy tampons, inside the box there
will be a paper pamphlet with
instructions, illustrations and frequently
asked questions and answers. Read that
first and that should answer a lot of your
questions. To start off, you should get
the smallest tampons you can find. I
think there are some brands that
specialize in tampons for teenage girls.
These are more slender so they fit easier
inside you. When you are ready to insert
it, take a deep breath and relax. If you
are nervous your body will tense up and it
will be harder to get it inside. The
tampon is sort of divided into two parts,
the top part that goes inside you will be
slightly larger than the bottom part.
Slide the larger part inside you until it
has almost completely disappeared and only
the smaller part is outside. Then while
you hold the bottom of the larger part,
you slide the smaller part inside you -
this pushes the cotton tampon out of the
applicator. Then you pull the applicator
out and the cotton tampon remains inside
you and the string will hang out. If the
applicator is cardboard, you can simply
flush it in the toliet. If it is
plastic, you simply just throw it away.
Once the tampon is inside of you and the
applicator is out, you should not be able
to feel any discomfort from it being
inside you. If you do, it is not far
enough inside you and the best thing to do
is take it out and try again with a new
one.
I hope this helps. I personally think
tampons are a wonderful invention and once
I started using them I never went back to
pads. If you have any more questions
feel free to ask good luck

Do yourself a favor a learn how to use
tampons! It will completely change the
way you feel about "that time of the
month"! When I was younger (13 or so) I
tried to use 1 and had a hard time so I
just gave up. It wasn't until college or
after that I figured it out & now use
them exclusivel (i'm in my mid-late 30's
now). It may take some time & be
frustrating at 1st, but once you figure it
out, it is soooooo worth it! Good luck!

The plastic is what you toss out, part of
the plastic goes in you, but then you pull
it out and toss it. Then just the cotton
stays in.
