Infant/todler Seizures After Eating? (help) Posted: 03-29-05 16:52pm
Ever since my son was old enough sit up
and be spoon-fed he would occasionally
have, what I know wonder is, a seizure.
I have never noticed him to have one out
side of his highchair (until today, i’ll
explain later) it doesn’t happen right
away, it seems to happen after he has
eaten a little bit or completely finished.
This is why I focus so much on it being
eating induced, but I could be wrong.
When he was little I though it was just
his personality being silly. It didn’t
happen 100% of the time so I didn’t
worry about it.
What happens is he clenches his fists and
grimaces his face and shakes, much in the
way you would if you were straining to
lift something heavy. It lasts 10-20
seconds.
Today I had to wake him up a bit early and
take him to the baby sitters so I gave him
a sippy cup with juice for the car ride.
When I got there and began taking him out
of the car seat he began to have one of
these ‘episodes’. This one lasted
probably a solid minute or more. Even
his lower lip seemed to be quivering
during it, and I couldn’t break is
concentration from it , so I don’t think
he was purposefully do it. He is 22
months old.
Does this sound like a seizure/epilepsy?
Can they be food induced? What do you
think it
is? What should I do?

Infant seizure's and eating Posted: 10-03-08 01:45am
My son is currently in the pediatric ward
for seizures. He does the exact same
thing. Takes most of his food and then
proceeds to start "shaking." Doctors have
done all sorts of tests. No answers. Pheno
barbitol does not seem to be
working.....let me know if you find out
anything and I will do the same.
