Im Not Sure If I Have Gout Posted: 03-30-05 02:24am
Ive been tested for gout now and nothing
has showed up as me having gout. My big
left toe is red with a little bit of
swelling but nothing bothers me never had
any pain. I had my toe nail removed on
the same toe as the swelling due to I had
an infection in my toe last summer. So I
dont know if I have and infection or gout.
Ive been put on antibiotics to get rid of
the infection but they absolutley did
nothing. I dont know whats going on with
it? :?
I was wondering jyy2 have you had a gout
attack after starting the baking soda
treatment and does it get rid of the
swelling and redness in the toe?

The typical gout attack on a big toe
involves sever pain and swelling. I do
not know what kind of test you had. The
best way to tell what you have is to see a
rheumatologist and ask him for a
arthrocentesis -- i.E., to draw the fluid
from the big toe joint and examine it
under the microscope for msu crystals (in
case of gout), micro-organisms (in case
of infection), etc. It can be painful.
Talk to your doctor or rheumatologist
about it.
Yes, I have been gout free since I first
treated my gout with baking soda in water
about 2.5 years ago. I have been off
gout medicines and been on unrestricted
diet.
