Im 4 weeks now and thats the main reason im worried about the miscarriage. I did a scan yesterday and the doc said that the fetal pole is not yet seen. I check all my preg books they dont say a word about the subject. Do u have any idea????.

I've never heard of such a thing?? Try not to worry, and ask your doctor some more questions...

4 weeks is awfully early for a scan. I know some people don't even see much till 6 weeks. Try not to worry. :d

the "fetal pole" is actually not a fetus, but rather is the embryo at a very early stage where it doesn't look like much of anything other than a small thickening at the side of the yolk sack.

It is generally so small that no details can be seen on ultrasound, and all that is visible is a small line/"pole." it generally isn't visible until around the 6th week, so there is no reason for concern.

ditto on what steen said.. Normally since you are so early your doc. Will send you for another scan around 6 to 7 weeks. Thats when they should be able to detect a preg. Also your doc will probally send you to get some blood work done to make sure the your hcg quanitive level is doubleing like it is suppose to. But right now just let nature take its course and try not ot worry yourself. I went through the same thing as you are, and now im 33 wks preggo today.. Good luck hun..
