Hi everyone, i'm new to this forum and I
really like it, it's very informative.
Here's my situation. The first day of my
last period was feb. 17, 2005 and it
lasted for nearly 2 weeks...Then it went
away for a few days and then came back for
a few days....So first I wasn't sure when
to expect my period, but now I feel it's
late. I've taken numerous hpt's and not
sure what to think. When my period came
back I called ask-a-nurse and she said it
could be pregnancy... Or even stress.
Well I took one test that night because
she said to do so, and even tho the second
line was very lightly colored, I did see 2
lines. So just to be sure I went and
bought a different style test...One that
you pee on. The first one was one ya peed
in a cup and dropped 3 droplets onto the
kit. Well...Both of those from that
package came up negative...Now just the
other day I took another one, the one you
pee on and it says negative. My husband
and I have been married a year and a half
now and we'd love a child. So...Does
anyone have any input for me? Is it
possible i'm pregnant, even tho all but
one said negative? And can I be sure the
first one was positive? The line was very
light...But it was there, the directions
said the shades of the 2 lines may be
different. Sorry for the long post, and
thanks for listening. Any replies would
be appreciated and thanks in advance!!

I can't realy offer advice, but i'm in a
similar situation.
My last period started on 3rd march.
This months period was due some where
between the 1st and the 3rd april. (my
cycle is around 30-31 days)
so I am now somewhere between 5 -7 days
late. I know this is early, but I did a
home preganacy test (i brought a double
pack and did two tests) one gave a very
faint positive result, the other which I
did later in the day showed a negative.
The pack said not to read the result after
10 mins and too discard - but after 20
mins the second test also had a positive
result. The woman on the helpline said
the after 10 mins the result can show as
poitive, even if negative as the urine
leeave a line as it evaporates. So I
waited a few days and did another test -
this time a different make that does not
become unvalid after 10 mins. Again the
first test had a very faint (very faint)
in the results window. I did another
test later that day and it was negative.
????? Am I pregnant. I've been bloated
and nausiated. I have made appt to see
gp, but the tests i've used say they are
as accurate as doctors tests and anyway
the doctors apt isn't for another week.
Sorry this I a long reply - but it's
useful to know that other people are
having simiar problems with home preganacy
tests.
If you have had one positive result it is
likely you are pregnant as the kit can not
react without the presence of the hormone.
Faulse negatives are more common, as you
can be preganat and just have diluted
urine or lower hcg hormone levels - so if
you have had a positive result - i'd go
with that and see your doctor.

Hi, good luck if you both are preenant.
Here's what i've heard. Even though the
package might say otherwise, it is always
best to take the tests first thing in the
morning. The hormones would have built
up over night while you slept and you will
get a more accurate reading. Also, I
have heard that it is possible to get a
false negative result, but not as possible
to get a false positive result. I don't
want you to get your hopes up, but I do
think you should go see your doc. While
the store bought tests are almost as
accurate as a urine test at the doctor,
your doctor can do a blood test that is
much more accurate.
Good luck,

Also - all hpt's turn positive after a
while. If you looked at the result too
late, meaning an hour or more, its
possible that it may have turned from
negative to positive when you are not
pregnant. If you have not gotten a strong
positive at this point, I would venture to
say that you are not pregnant.
