Nerve Block With Steroid Injections Posted: 11-05-03 07:00am
hi all,
i just had a second nerve block at the l-5
level of my spine. The first one was
about a month ago and I got relief from it
for about five days. I was told that
sometimes the second shot will help more.
I have had three surgeries on my lower
back, the last one was april 2002 which
included a fusion of l-2 to l-4 area. I
am doing everything I can to postpone
another surgery but I am not sure that
these shots are helping much. My question
is does anyone have any first hand
knowledge with the success rate of these
injections? it
is not a pleasant experience for me or the
Dr. Doing them because of all the
hardware and bone fusion in my back. It
usually takes 2 or 3 needles to get to the
right spot and i'm not sure if I want to
do this again if this one doesn't work.

I have had nerve block injections in my
neck, it took 6 injections before I felt
any relief, everyone reacts differently, I
have also had them in my lower back l4l5
area and I have had no luck with the
injection there. I havent had as many
injections in my back as my neck, it gets
so aggravating, its a very uncomfrtable
procedure. I know some people who have
had luck with them and said it was worth
going through, and then some have said
they offered no relief. It may take a
couple of the injections for them to
actually work for you.
