Wax Build Up
Posted: 04-04-05 19:17pm

Someone please help? I've had this problem as a baby, I get sick and my ears do this hyper intensive wax build up. Long story short i'm just getting over being sick (again) and I think I may have had one ear that had more wax in it then I thought. Any ways, how do I get this piece of wax out without having to go to the doctor?

Any sorts of remedies will not be turned down (as long as not intrusive or painful)

Ear Wax

Hi, I have the same problem but I also have vertigo which is caused by wax build up that hardens and effects the nerve endings and the signals sent to the brain which causes the dizziness..So I have been told..Or from head trauma like I had. One thing I found that helps with the wax build up is a kit from the pharmacy called cerumol, it has drops(warm them first) put into the ear and plug with a cotton ball and let sit for 10 minutes then tilt your head and hopefully some of the wax comes out, then flush the ear with warm water with the pump they supply in the kit. It is best to warm it because anything cold put into your ear causes dizziness..Been there done that..Another remedy is warm peroxide and drop into ear and use a cotton ball to keep it there wait 10 minutes (it might fizz so don't be alarmed) and tilt head back so it can come out and then warm some rubbing alcohol and put a few drops in to evaporate any liquid still there since liquid in the ear also causes dizziness if left. These are things I have tried and my dizziness is almost gone and the ear doesn't feel full anymore so the ear wax is gone also.. Good luck

So once you use these kits, does the wax fall out by itself? Do you have to use a q-tip to take it out?

Peotmcc, yes the wax when softened by the drops will come out by itself when you tilt your head to let it run out and what is left will wash out with the bulb syringe you get with the kit that you fill with warm water and flush the ear with. It really works well. Never put a q-tip in the ear you will only push the wax in further..Good luck

Question For Sarahp
Posted: 04-12-05 18:42pm

Hi sarah, I have another question. Reading about yourvertigo made me think about my nausea and headache problem. For the past few days, I have been having nausea and a pain between my eybrows. Could it be related to the ear wax thing?

Poetmcc, I don't know if your headaches and nausea are from ear wax or not but my guess would be maybe you have a sinus problem. Headaches between the eyes and brow usually are connected to sinus or it could be a migraine headache which makes you nauseas.. Good luck
