Help!! Possible But Is It Probable? Paternity Question Posted: 04-05-05 09:27am
My ex-girlfriend told me that she was
pregnant. It was a time that we were
broken up but on and off. She claims it
was from the last time we had sex which
was on october 28 or 29th and the due date
was july 29th. She was induced a week
early july 20th since the doctor said the
baby is developing very well and is at a
good size. I was worried that staying in
too long would be harmful which is why the
decided to take him out early. Though
she’s maintained that she was never with
anyone else I have had some doubts.
Recently I looked at a conception calendar
on a paternity website
(http://www.Genetree.Com/about/conception-
calculator.Asp) and it said that with a
due date of july 29th the most probable
date of conception is november 6. Does
this mean we could have still had
intercourse on the 28/29 of october and
gotten pregnant from that? Also, she
knew after 2 or so days that she was
pregnant. I know this is possible but
doesn’t it usually take 2 weeks? I
heard of some women knowing very quickly
that they are pregnant especially since
she already has 2 kids. I know the best
answer is to take a paternity test which I
probably will, but looking at this
situation that I just explained: does this
sound weird?
Yes, the ob/gyn could have miscalculated
the due date. Instead of taking the baby
early, it may have been the real due date
or past. I do not know if that helps or
not. I hope for your sake she is not
claiming things that are not true. She
would be messing with two people's lives.

Thanks surgeonassist. I thought that dr's
calculated due dates based on the first
day of a woman's last period though and
count 40 weeks forward. So for july 29th
wouldn't 40 weeks prior be oct. 23? And
then she insists it was from when we were
together on oct. 28th. She even asked
the doctor in front of me what was the
date of conception and he said the 28th.
She knew by the 31st that she was
pregnant.

Maybe in the beginning,
but later on, they calculate the due date
by measuring things like the length of the
long bones on the ultrasound. They often
re-compute the due date several times to
zero in on a final guesstimate.
None of that matters. If there's any
doubt, get the paternity test. Then you
KNOW.
