Adderall Problems
Posted: 04-06-05 16:41pm

Hello, I am currentley 15 years old and weigh 120 pounds, this past saturday, 5 days ago I experimented with adderall for the first time. Both of my friends that I were with that had given me the drug had prior experience. Them, weighing about 40 pounds more than I do took 150 milligrams a few days before. This saturday around 8pm I took 90 milligrams of adderal xr for my first time. They both had severe reactions, pounding heart, sick to their stomache, lightheadedness etc. None of us had gotten any sleep the following night of our trip. I myself have been having the worse side effects, I havent gone to the bathroom but only once since saturday, even though I didnt eat anything 2 of those days, and when I went it was dihareah. I have been having heart problems since the trip, my heart is beating irregular, somtimes it will beat fast, sometimes it will beat slower, even without excercise. Sometimes when I put my hand to my chest I can barley even feel my heart beating, and others I will be able to feel it clearly. I have had severe depression in the past, but ever since my adderall trip it has gotten alot worse. Sometimes I feel like im going to die, im scarred to death that im going to have a heart attack, im afraid that when I go to sleep I wont wake up, and this has made my depression worse. I am on accutane(serious drug for acne) and didnt take it for 3 nights, but I have began taking it again as of last night. This medication has made me depressed anyway but the combination of the two makes me feel absolutley meaningless. I am afraid to tell my parents because it wasent percribed to me and I am currentley in the process of being prosocuted for another felony. I dont want to talk to anyone about it, even though I relise this is probably the best thing to do, im afraid they will end up notifying the police and then I will be screwed. I really need help here, I feel like im going to lose it, either that or die of a heart attack. Please someone, I need some advice. Thanks - lathe

I know you are afraid of telling your mom and dad about this problem but you are going to have to tell them so you can be properly treated for the symptoms you are having.

If you cannot talk to them about it, maybe you can talk to a teacher that you trust at your school or to one of the assistant principals or even go to the emergency room and tell the triage nurse what you have done and also tell them about your past use/abuse of drugs.

I am not sure what the typical dosage of adderal would be but if you exceeded it and your body has gotten itself out of the correct rhythem(sp), you can and probably will have a heart attack or stroke.

You have to tell someone and seek real, live help. (not computer people help) :p

i hope you do the right thing and let us know how it goes!

Hello lathofheaven,

it seems to me that all your problems seem to be due to an abnormal biochemistry. If so this can be easily treated without recourse to drugs. I understand that you have been taking adderal for obesity. This is central nervous system stimulant often used in people with adhd.

The point that I want to raise is that most of your problems, - depression. Obesity, mood swings etc - may be due to hypoglycemia. I suggest that you contact your school counselor or a friendly doctor and have yourself tested for hypoglycemia.

We have a special test for hypoglycemia at our web site. Search our web site for

"testing for hypoglycemia..."

if you are found to be positive you need to go on a hypoglycemia diet.

If you are found to be hypoglycemic the the treatment going on a hypoglycemic diet. This will also help stop obesity, especially if you take some nutritional supplements as explained in “the hypoglycemic diet”.

If you want to understand the connection between emotional disorders and hypoglycemia, please read:

"what is hypoglycemia?'
at our web site.

We also have a self-help psychotherapy course at our web site.

Please discuss with a therapist.

latheofheaven.....

I know exactly how u r feeling I have another addiction (zopiclone post) and without it my heart palputaions are really scary,
i am a single mum of 1 and I obviously have to keep things together for my daughters sake.

I lie awake some nights and my heart feels like it's gonna jump out my skin it beats so hard,

and to be honest I don't know what this drug is u have had? Is it like lsd or amphetamine (speed)?

If so these drugs are known to increase your anxiousness which is why you feel unstable and panicky. I took them 2/3 nights a week for 6 years when I was younger going to raves etc, and when I was around my friends I felt great but after being up all night time come for me to go home to sleep, and it was a nightmare!!
My room looked "different" I felt uncomfortable and scared although I knew my mum would kill me if she found out what i'd been doing.

I think once I even fell unconscious as I had these bizarre images of "neon people" dancing through my head very scary!!

At night if u have trouble sleeping, try putting a portable tv in your room and have it on low volume so you've got sounds with you it can help calm u a bit!

Although as a short term relief try some deep breathing exercises (look up online) they really help to calm your nervous system down,

and you really do need to tell someone, even a friend as once u have you will feel like a weight has been lifted off of you.

All the best

Ok, listen 2 me, I know exactly how, you feel, before you skip what I have 2 say, I am in your shoes but I can help you. I know it feels good 2 talk 2 someone that has the same problems so hear it goes.

I am a 18 year old boy who has been manicly depressed sense I was 12. Ive been around many hard days, and believe me, they were bad. My girlfriend used 2 cut herself b4 she knew I existed (i never did, because I always saw it as the vagina way out and I can build up the courage 2 not do it). Instead of hurting myself, I would deal with my pain by taking pills (that were perscribed 2 me), smoking, or drinkin. Even though my pain would go away for that night, it would always come back.

Another problem that I have is anxiety, you know how your heart pounded uncontrolably? Well that happends 2 me when I smoke. My body shakes, everything is louder than it should be. And every thing feels like its lagging. For instance if you talked 2 me, I would only c your mouth move, and like 3 seconds later I would hear you.

As for the pills you are taking adderall, I used 2 take them myself (perscribed for me for school) they were only 10mg a pill and what you took was way 2 much. My mother would only give me half.

Recently, my friend told me about adderall, and he said it was another form of speed. I read the sideaffects and it can be serious if abused. I tried them anyway only 2. I can see why people do them, I can feel how good it can make you feel.

I can also feel the negative side affects such as the addiction, how it dwells on depression, and how your heart can increase the beats.

Now for your depression, I dont know if you have the same depression as me, but I have a chemical imbalance in my body (not severe) but enough to make me sad for a few weeks. Do not use anything to coop up with your depression. Its ok to smoke and drink every once in a while if you had a little of a bad day. But do not make it as a habbit. Pills for instance are highly addicting (i would know). And can lead to other drugs, and not to mention small balls.

Ok, now as for what you should do about this heart problem. The first thing you should do is tell your parents about your "heart problem", if you feel uncomforitable telling them it was from a drug you took, you can always tell that part later. Make them take you and get checked about this heart problem and who knows, it could be just anxiety (which I have). Second, before you experament with n e other drug (not that your should) you should read the side affects, make sure your not really alergic. And please make sure u know the proper dosage. Seriously, not to scare you or anything, if it was n e thing else like pain killers you and your friends could of over dosed.

Remember, your parents care much more about your own safety then just beating the caca out of you. Of course there gonna b mad, but its better than just keeping it in. The will help you more than punish you.

So lets recap here:

1. Tell your parents about your "heart problem"
2. Get a checkup from your doctor.
3. Tell your parents about your depression and how serious it is.
4. Never take a large dosage like that.
5. If you need to talk to someone personally, you can email me (xxdeaglekingxx@walla.Com) and I can help you dealing with depression and maybe get rid of it.

If you dont have add/adhd dont take adderal, please read my post labeled "adderal - (n) - .." it can have rather detrimental and fatal outcomes. Its really simple.. Now as for the depression I can not address that. Adderal stays in your system for less than 2 days, just say 'no' from now on.

Actually what makes adderall such an addictive drug is because it builds up in the protein in your brain, these protein deposits is what trigger the cravings. The deposits will eventually go away, but ex-addicts usually report cravings for amphetamines months or years after quitting.

Also, the dose you took was a very high amount for your first time, I have used adderall as a recreational drug numerous times and the highest I have taken was 120 mg.

Once I had what I thought was an overdose, where I snorted a large amount of adderall then 2 hrs later I snorted a larger amount. I had heart palpitations that nite but now I dont seem to notice them and believe I dont have them anymore.

I got into that stuff when I was thirteen. Lost 40 lbs.
Horrible. Had to go to emergency room. It gave me an irregular heart beat and I had to be watched. I also got caught at school in 7th grade.
Its highly addictive, and can kill you.

Sounds like you did it for your friends. Does that sound like something you'd do?
