I am 24 years old and I just found out
that I have genital herpes. I have never
had any of these symptoms before. I have
been with my current boyfriend for 7
months and he had "symptoms" a few months
ago but he didn't go to the doctors
because it went away and at the time we
didn't know what it was. He said that he
had never experienced this before either.
I am very upset and confused about this.
How could I have gotten this and what can
I expect now??

Hi kboutah,
genital herpes are transmitted from person
to person through sexual intercourse.
Either vaginal or anal. You or your
partner would have contracted herpes from
a previous partner, and you or your
partner have transmitted the disease to
each other. Herpes doesn't always have
visible symptoms immediately, you or your
partner could have contracted herpes
months ago and not known about it. There
are no cures for herpes yet, but there are
defiantely things you can do to keep it in
remission, which you would need to talk to
your doctor about. Stress is only one of
the things that can trigger a flare up of
herpes symptoms, I have included a link
below that will provide you with more
information on herpes.
