my partner has ddd and arthritis from l2
to s1. His doctors have recently told
him that fusion of more than 2 discs would
be impossible and ineffective. This is
parkland hospital in dallas tx, no slumps
there. He is only 35 years old. So
far, he's on his 2nd try at finding
medication that doesn't make him sick all
the time. He's taking non-narcotics; one
for pain, one anti-inflammatory and one
that's like zantac but generic. The pain
isn't minimized and he can barely if ever
keep any food down even with the stomach
medicine. He's constantly nauseous just
in different degrees and always in pain
too. He'll be starting pain management
next week but that won't help the stomach
issues. My question is: has anyone here
who's had more experience with this found
anything that helps or prevents the
nausea? How someone can be helped to any
degree when their medication is making
them sick, doesn't sound like "healing" to
me on any level. You're sick and the
docs make you sicker..I don't get it.

Try to get him fenergan suppositories to
take along with his pain meds. The
fenergan will keep him from being sick and
then his pain meds will be able to work.
The nurses will give this iv when he is in
the hospital recovering from surgery since
the pain med of choice is morphine
sulphate for pain relief post operative.
Don't know if any, use but uk docs have
reccomended dynesys / dynesis for my wife
as an alternative to fusion. Fda trials
are underway in usa, might be helpful -
worth taking a look at. Just type name
into a search engine and have a read,
about 11,000 cases already had surgery in
europe. Good luck pops.
