I went to the doctor on monday, was close
to 10 weeks along and he did an ultrasound
because I had been spotting for about 5
days, the bleeding had turned from
brownish to bright red with small clots.
The ultrasound showed that the egg sac was
empty. Either the egg didnt develop
enough to see on the ultrasound before
dying or there was no egg to begin with.
So since I was already bleeding I opted to
not have the surgery again (i miscarried
once before) ad have had cramps and
bleeding with more clots since then. It
has been hard on us, we only just got
married saturday and now this.. But my
question is... The way my doctor
discribed it to me, I thought I would
bleed heavier than I have been and that
the cramps would be horrible. Ow they
have been a little painful and I did bleed
rather good for a day but now the bleeding
is slowing down. There were only 2 or 3
quarter sized clots, but they were flat.
Do you think it is all out or more may be
coming? I would appreciate any comments,
thank you.

You were prob earlier on than you
thought...And it would be considered a
spontanious abortion. How did you
confirm the 10 wks? Give me a little
more insight on this, k.

According to the date of my last period
when put into the ultrasound machine (i
had one done monday) I should have been 9
weeks and 6 days along. But when he did
the ultrasound he could see some bleeding
outside the sac and two blood clots in the
sac but no egg or fetus. The doctor said
what might have happened is that early on,
the egg stopped developing and it took a
while for my body to realize the pregnancy
was over. I had a dnc a few years ago and
when I had it done the fetus had been dead
for almost 3 weeks but I had no bleeding
before hand, did not find out until an
ultrasound was done to confirm that there
was no heartbeat present. If you need any
more info let me know. I keep wondering
if I should call the doc back? Even
though he knows this is happening, how
long should I let the bleeding go on
before getting concerned?
Thanks!

marriage! Thats so great! But call the
doc and just ask so you dont have to
worry.

Hi there,
i'm so sorry to hear about your
experience. It sounds exactly like my
experience 2 years ago (almost to the
day). I had a blighted ovum at 8 and 1/2
wks. Started spotting, went in for
ultrasound and they found an empty sac.
Soon after, I began to bleed very heavily
and cramped a lot for at least two weeks.
I thought it would never end.
Hopefully, your body will be able to
resolve the matter more quickly than mine
did. On the bright side, I conceived 2
cycles later and now have a one year
old!
Good luck and my thoughts are with you.
