She's In a Lot of Pain, And I Can't Help Her
Posted: 11-06-03 11:59am

My mother has arthritis in 5 discs of her lumbar vertebrae, (lower back), and rheumatoid arthritis. It affects how she walks, and basically her life is controlled by her pain. She is very strong, works four jobs, and takes care of my teenage sister and her sick father. I do all that I can to help, by running errands for her or my sister. She takes motrin, vicodin, and occasionaly flexeral. But because she works in a hospital with babys, she wont take her meds @ work, in fear she might hurt one of them. Are there supplements for this, that help the pain. She suffers every minute, but is to strong to say so. If anyone knows of anything that may help, please get back to me.

Rawkeze,
i used to have bursitis in both of my shoulders, and sometimes even now I have flare ups. Your mother's pain is probably considrably more than my own, so I don't know if this will help. I used to take several capsules of citrus bioflavonoid each day when I was suffering. It did help some. A friend of mine suffered from bursitis as well and recommended it to me. He swears by it and says it's the only reason he could keep working his construction job. I looked in my herbal remedies book and it's supposed to be a natural anti-inflammatory. You can get it at drug and health food stores, maybe even at wal mart.
I think some herbal remedies work better for some than others. I remember that there were some other natural anti-inflammatories listed in my book. I'll do some more looking and let you know what I find out. Hope this helps some.
Best wishes.
