Cat Scan While Preg
Posted: 04-16-05 10:42am

Yesterday I was having some problems breathing and my lungs had a burning feeling im 19 wks preg so I went to the er and they said I may have a blood clot so they had to do a low radation cat scan on my chest they covered my belly I am so worried that that will harm my baby I was crying so much at the docters they said I could have refused they scan but if I had a clot I could die guess what the probelm was they saw I had heart burn! All that for heart burn I was mad that I had the scan but im thankful I did not have a clot. Anyone ever had a cat scan while they were pregnant? I would like some information on radation while pregnant. Thanks

Ok dont freak out, your doctor would not have given you the scan knowing that you were pregnant if he thoought that there may have been harm to the baby. I have had x-rays while pregnant and isabella is fine. As long as they covered your belly up with the lead blanket then you will be fine! The only reason that they said that you could have refused it is so they dont get in trouble. Hospitals have been having lots of trouble with doing procedures without permission, apperently the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing and it is causing problems. Dont worrie your baby will be fine, and just a tip for your heart burn, take two tums when it starts to bother you and within minuets you will feel better.
