Q: Chance of Miscarring Or Twins?

:( hi, this is my first pregnancy and I am really worried about mis carrying it, me and the father have been together for four years and I was shocked but happy that it was happening!!!

The reason I am so worried is because my mum had a few miscarriages and my granny had still born twins, and his granny had a still born boy, and his auntie had a baby die in infancy as well. Does this increase my chances of miscarrying. Another thing that has made me worry is because this morning I got up and I have been having terrible nausea throughout the entire day but with small pains around the adominal area nothing had worried me until this morning when I got this really strong sharp pain it lasted about half a minute but I was about to drop. What could this be?

And I heard as well that the chances of having twin is higher when it skips a generation, what are the chances of my having them since my granny concieved them?

Please help marie

Hey hun, everyone worries about misscarriage, but it's something that you have no control over so just let it go and enjoy your pregnancy :)

Thanks, it is so scary this first while and I haven't been able to relax incase something similar happens to me, I am really looking forward to this baby and don't want anything to go wrong, are miscarriages carried genetically?

Yea, I went through a stage where I worried myself sick b/c I thought I might have a miscarriage! You shoul djust relax and try not to think about it! And about your pains...I had really sharp pains in the beginning, I would almost cry, like really far down in the pelvic regiion, so i'm sure you have nothing to worry about!

How far along are you now? Does the gentics not play a role?

Pains in your adominal region are totally normal. It's just your uterus stretching and growing to make room for you little baby. I've had pains like that for the past 15 or so weeks. I'm 23 weeks 5 days :)

gentics does play a role in your chances of having twins, but not with your chances of misscarriage. How far along are you?

I'm only about seven to eight weeks. I went to the doctors yesterday and he examined me, he said that the pain I had could have been caused by one of two things...A cyst on my ovaries which is common in pregnant woman having burst or an ectopic pregnancy. I was told to go straight to craigavon area hospital where they would give me two scans. They did and found out that it wasn't ectopic and the baby seems to be at the right stages and stuff. The only thing that was worrying me now was my chances of miscarriage. Ihad just thought after my mum and grannies experience it would happen me too?
