My wife has something called hpv. There is no symptoms she says she has. But I think I have genital warts. Did I get it from her well thats up in the air right. What doctor do I see for this. How do you swallow the pride and call. Need help fast.

My symptoms are skin collered small bumps around the anus and a couple on the skin thats between the penis and anus. Im scared to death, they dont hurt barley itch no bleeding and going #2 is no problem. Thanks for your time.

Normally warts are spread by skin to skin contact so it is hard for me to see that you do have warts where you say you do around the anus how did she touch you with warts around the anus. Anyways what you are describing do sound like warts and hpv is the virus that causes warts-- I would go see your physician or have your wife ask her obgyn who you should go see you might be able to just go there. They will probably treat you with a medication called aderal it is just a cream that you put on just the warts not the skin around them and that should take care of it but make sure it is warts first!!!

I'm a 31 year old female and just found out I have hpv. External warts can be removed. Many times a female with hpv has warts inside the vagina and on the cervix, so it may be transmitted to the man that way. Warts can be biopsied to make sure there are no atypical cells, and then removed in a variety of ways: creams, cryosurgery, and other procedures. I would recommend your girlfriend/wife (sorry I forgot), have a pap test and a colposcopy (if she hasn't already) and have internal and possibly external warts removed so the virus can go into dormancy. That way you won't continue to spread it back and forth. From then on, you just have to keep an eye on the area and have anything suspicious checked out and treated. Don't worry: hpv is sooo common. It's the most common std out there and even though there is no cure, it's very treatable.

Hpv16

The type of hpv associated with cervical carcinoma is usually the hpv16, the invisible one that does not cause warts, this is usually identified only via pap abnormalities, males can carry it and not test positive but can transmit it to other partners
hpv8 usually causes the ugly warts and though these can be burned or frozen off the virus may remain dormant and become reactivated particularly when the immune system is suppressed (stress, aids, cancer)
hpv16 may also be associated with prostate cancer as there is a high incidence of this virus in this slow growing cancer in men

cervical cancer is a big killer in undeveloped countries particularly in africa because it is spread and is silent until untreatable because women do not get good health care and simple pap smears

there are many associated links between certain viruses and cancers, this isjust one of them

Thanks janeysuz,

very helpful information. I am scheduled to have a cone procedure to remove mild to moderate dysplasia on and in my cervix. I have both high and low risk hpv and just have to keep an eye on my body and routinely get my paps done. Has anyone out there had a cone procedure and if so, can you tell what the experience was like and what I can expect? I'm very nervous. Thanks.

I have just got back from my doctors (for something else) but while ther I asked if he could tell me what strain of hpv I had? He couldnt find anything in my notes from the year it was detected2003 as we have moved house and doctors but I can tell you that I had no symptoms of it but have read the post about silent 16 that causes cancer , do you know if any other strains do not cause symptoms but still cause cancer? Grateful for your input
