Anyone know what may cause or trigger a seizure in themselves?

There are a lot of triggers and each person was a little different in what triggers cause their seizures....

Flickering lights can trigger some

stress
inadequate nutrician
dehydration
alcohol
over the counter medications
antihystamines
sleep deprivation
missed doses of medication
hormones

Seizure Triggers

Triggers for me are normally a little too much alcohol (more than one glass, unfortunately) and stress. Not getting enough sleep is another one, particularly if it's related to either of the above.

Alcohol - Boo!

Unfortunately pretty much any alcohol whatsoever brings on seizures for me. My friends all love that they've got a sober driver when we go to the pubs though. Often if I have a couple of late nights in a row i'll have a seizure, or if I forget to take my tablets. I think my neuro told me that only 3% of epileptics have seizures triggered by strobe lights. Dunno if that's right though. I was at a pub the other night that had strobe lights and started getting the headache I always get before a seizure so I left to be sure. Would be interested to know if anyone can elaborate on the flickering light stats.
Cheers

The lights bother me, as does my computer unless I have the intensity turned way down.

Triggers

I defintely think that strobe lights are a trigger. I also think that watching tv with the lights off may be a contributor as well. My pc at work also has a glare cover over the screen as a precaution. Some foods can trigger mine. I try to avoid things like chocolate which is torture for me, any type of citrus, soy sauce, pickles, anything with yeast, like yogurts or some cheeses, definitely caffeine...That one's the worst. I haven't had a coke in about 5 years. Some sodas that don't have caffeine are sprite, ginger ale and believe it or not, root beer. Also, coffee has a lot of caffeine and even decaf has some too. Hope this helps!
