Neuropathy??? Is There a Cure?

I hope someone can help...My husband was recently diagnosed with neuropathy. The pain began about 3 weeks ago while in bed. He woke up with his leg feeling cold, but on fire inside. This happened just a few times, but since then it happens about 5 to 7 times a night and the pain has graduated to his rectum and lower back. His legs feel "numb" when he sits or lays down...Sometimes when he's standing. It's not a constant pain, but very very frequent. When he gets out of bed, his legs are "wobbly." he went to the Dr.'s and was told to take neurontin...100 mg 2xd. So far.......Only about 3 days, this has not helped at all. "the Dr. Also wants to do a sleep study test to rule out sleep apnea. Does anyone have any information on this? This is all new, and as he drives truck for a living, it's essential we get a jump start on this. Thanks for your time.

Does you husband have diabetes? I got neuropathy, am 25, because I went so long with hyperglycemia before getting a correct diagnosis for my type 1 diabetes. If diabetes is present, then it's important to alleviate glycosolation (maybe spelled wrong) in muscles and also keep sugars under control.

For the most part, the major pains of my neuropathy have subsided, until my basal insulin (lantus) stars to expire after 20 days. But I was having problems with major tingling in my feet and butt hurting for awhile. I went to a physical therapist who said I had a weak back and stiff muscles relative to others. He showed me some exercises I could to to strengthen my weak muscles. My neurologist also told me once that walking is also a good way to prevent further deterioration.

Thanks for your reply. The strange thing about this neuropathy is that he had a complete blood work up and everything was normal. I will check out the website you recommended........Thanks and good luck to you.
