I am going in for a new CBC because they
said my white blood cell count is down.
What does this mean for my treatment. I
am taking Rebatal and Peg-Intron. I have
lost my hair and lost weight but I do not
want to stop my treatment. I want to go
the course. Will they do as a cancer
patient and try and boost my white cell
count?

First off you should be tested for hcv.
If you don't have it then no worry. Even
if you do have hep it is possible but rare
for you to pass it to your child.

White Counts On Hcv Treatment Posted: 09-12-03 00:17am
Yes it is unfortunately normal for the
counts to drop. Also look at your
platelets as they usually go way down
during treatment. I started out the
first round and went down to 42 on the
platelets but following the end of the
protocol they are coming back up and after
three bouts of interferon and not clearing
the virus I can happily say my platelets
are back in range and going up.
I do not think they use neutrofil for
interferon treatment but I am not sure.
I have been involved in researching and
educating for years and thus have been in
contact with many patients and seen a ton
of abstracts but may have not noticed this
drug being used although I do know it is
generally a good one for low white counts
so ask you doctor.
Be well

Can aynone help me out. I am 43, I
started using and sharing needles at 16.
I continued my drug use up until june this
year 2003. I know I have been re-infected
probably heaps of times, I also watched a
friend die of liver cancer earlier this
year. I am terrified of dying the same
way, as she was in agony and the powers
that be only administered pain relief when
she was near death due to the fact she was
an iv drug user. I have moved to another
state to run away from my past, I now fear
that if I do get liver cancer I will be
treated the same in-human way. I also
would like to know how much I can expect
my energy levels and moods to suffer. I
am at my wits end about my hep c and there
is no relief. I also find it difficult to
talk about my status with doctors as there
is definitely a stigma attached to having
hep c (ie. Junky scum).
