Possible Hip Misalignment Posted: 05-02-05 20:16pm
Hello all,
i have a very bad pain in my lower back.
The pain is very sharp and I can honestly
say its one of the worse pains I have felt
in my life. By far, the pain is worse
when I first wake up in the morning. I
have slept on 6 different beds and even
the floor for a little while, just to make
sure this problem is not resulting from a
bad bed. The pain affects my lower back
and runs all the way down my legs (usually
my right one, but recently its affecting
my left one too). Sometimes my legs even
go numb (as if they had fallen asleep). I
recently went to a chiropractor, however I
feel he was a quack, so i'm seeking a
better one currently. I think my problem
is due to a misaligned hip (one hip is a
little higher then the other). I think as
a result of the misaligned hip, its
knocking discs out of place on my back.
Does anyone have any advice as to steps I
could take at home to help this problem?
I've tried the pillow between my knees
when I sleep at night and that does help a
little, but only a little.
Thanks
alan

Hi there. You should get this checked
out by your Dr., it could be a pinced
nerve, sciatica, nerve, or you just might
need a shoe lift and some adjusting, but,
this situation could get worse if left
untreated.
Sincerely,

Pain Down Legs Posted: 05-03-05 00:42am
Icemanind,
pain down the legs, and pain that is worse
in the morning may be indicative of disc
bulging. This is another good test. Do
you get shooting pain down your legs when
you bend over to touch your toes? If so,
then the disc is pushing into the spinal
cord and thus causing neuropathy. Disc
pain is usually higher in the morning due
to increased hydration and decompression
from lying on your back for 8 hours.
Disc pain will usually decrease as the day
progresses due to loss of water in the
disc.
Do the test and let me know what
happens.
Yeah, I do get the pain worst in the
morning and it does get better as the day
goes by, but its still painful..Just not
as painful. As far as touching my toes,
you are right about that too. Very sharp
painful shooting pain when I try to bend
down and touch my toes. I don't know how
it happened. I always lifted with my legs
and never overdid it. It just seemed to
happen one day and its been getting worse
for like the past year. Any suggestions?

Icemanind,
go online to amazon.Com and purchase the
book by robin mckenzie. The mckenzie
method is the system that I use to deal
with disc pain clients. Do the extension
protocol in the book and do not flex
(round) your back. I don't care what you
have to pick up, etc.. It takes 18
months to completely heal an annular tisc
bulge. That is if you do not re-injure
it. Buy the book and do the protocol.
Then check out my site and get the video.
Once you are able to control the pain,
then you need to condition the muscles
with safe exercises. Do not attempt this
on your own. I have had many disc
patients that try and damn near blow the
disc. Then you'll be in a world of hurt.
Take disc herniations seriously and take
the appropriate action and you will get
better.
Thanks for the advice. I will check out
her book right now.
One other thing, would it be a good idea
for me to workout? I usually do a cardio
workout like treadmill and bicycling, then
move onto lifting weights for building
muscles. Can I still do this, or would
this be a bad idea?

Alan,
it sounds like you haven't had any
instruction on your condition. I would
advise to do nothing but what the book
recommends until you are able to get your
pain under control. Running creates
about 7x bodyweight pressure with each
foot strike. If you have a disc bulge,
that pressure is going straight through
it!! The only cardio I recommend is
light walking.
You can contact me through my email for
easier responds.
i have problems with misaligned hips also.
The reason for my misalignment was due
to muscle imbalance in my lower body.
One muscle was tighter/stronger than the
other so it would pull on one side of the
hip more than the other. My pain got so
bad that I went to see someone. My
doctor told me nothing but then I went to
a physical therapist and they have helped
me so much. My hips are now rarely out
of alignment and I have felt so much
better. My advice to you would be go see
a physical therapist (a back specialist
would be the best choice) and they should
be able to help you.
