I was wondering if there is someone that
has had the gastric bypass surgery that
also has polysystic ovarian disease?

I had lap at osu in columbus, ohio. The
surgery went very well. I was only in
the hospital for a day and a half. I did
not have as much to lose as some people,
so I was a slow loser on top of having
pcos. The first year I lost 80 pounds.
I've been struggling to continue losing
since then and have had to step up my
exercise quite a bit. If I don't do
anything, I stay stable and don't gain,
but I still have 40 lbs or so that I want
to get rid of. Pcos did not change after
the surgery. I had no change in the
excess hair and also did not have periods
until I went back on the pill in spring
2004. I don't know if you are trying to
get pregnant or not .. But if not, yasmin
birth control pills are awesome for pcos.
The hair literally disappears ... It is
really amazing.
Good luck on the 23rd! Let me know if you
have any other questions and i'll try to
help.

Hello,
i had the surgery in 2003 and I have
polystitc ovarian syndrome.
The surgery was a success and I lost 110
pounds and weigh 130 pounds. Went from a
size 26/28 to a size 10 on the bottom and
size 6 on top. Awesome.
My periods are more freqeunt now like
every other month, and my pcos did improve
I am no longer on any medication.
Loving life.

I went to the dr on 05/23 and he was
really nice and explained everything. Ive
been seeing a therapist for issues and
seeing a dietician. I have a question to
ask, when you have had the gastric do you
still have the cravings for food and how
do you work that out in your mind. I
think by having the gastric it will
benefit me alot. I plan on keeping myself
busy and swimming alot

She has been having sever withdrawals

anything to do with it?

I had a gastric bypass in may of last year
and I also have pcos. I was going to an
infertility clinic who told me about the
surgery and the results it could provide.
I have since lost 112 lbs. And I am a
size 8. You don't really crave food like
you used to, at least I don't. I eat a
lot healthier. I find that fast food and
fried things make me feel bad, not sick
but just nasty. I eat a lot of veggies
now and I have a regular exercise routine.
I am only 25 so my husband and I are
trying now to have children, but although
my periods have become more regular I
think I am still going to need some
assistance.
As far as the hair and the other issues
it is still the same as it always has
been. After the surgery I lost a lot of
my hair, but of course none of it was
where I wanted to lose hair. I used a
great shampoo that was given to me by my
hair stylist called nioxin and it worked
wonders.
I can tell you that it will be a rough
road at the beginning trying to relearn
your limits and what you can eat and not.
It took me 8 months to be able to stomach
bread and I can't touch sugar (dumping
syndrome). If you have any questions or
anything please don't hesitate to ask me I
can try to help. I feel better now than
ever and I hope it works out for you as it
did me.
About the girlfriend who drinks a lot now.
Physically I don't think the surgery has
anything to do with it, however; mentally
it is a lot to handle. People treat you
differently and I actually became more
self conscious the smaller I got. Maybe
she is drinking to cope with the changes.

i had gastric bypass 6-2001. All these
years I have been complaining of lack of
energy, tired, body aches, concentration,
muscle weakness dizziness sometimes,
weight gain, and severe lower back pain.
I am even on disability. I was referred
to a back specialist and he said theres
noting showing on the extra and mri. He
sent me home. How disapointed I was
because I still don't know the problem.
I just reciently did homework on the
computer finding out why I cannot get
pregnant, 2 years trying. I came across
information in doing my homework. I took
my information and my recent blood work
results to my new family doctor. He told
me I was anemic and I am b-12/folic acid,
iron deficiant. I was shocked. I did
more homework on the computer and I had
all the symptoms. I was reading that low
b-12 causes lower back pain. I took very
high dosages of b-12 to see what happens.
About 3 days later all my years of back
pain went away. My back and body feel
great!! I now have to go back and do
blood work again for the anemia. I think
I have that to. Also, the folic acid
makes me infertile. I will be
starting pcos medication for fertility
& folic acid. Unfortunately doctors
here in america won't give me the
medication for pcos so I have to order it
out of the country (mexico) on-line.
Pcos gets your body feeling better to
(female hormones). I can't wait to
recieve my medicine to finally feel better
from my surgery. Also, wish me luck
trying to concieve with the medicine to.
I recomend anyone who had this surgery to
do a complete blood count. Please take
vitamins.
Also, doctors are no help to all my
problems. Doctors get very upset when
you tell them your doing homework on the
computer for your symptoms. I have to
do it because all the doctors I see either
don't want to help or don't know what to
do, so they brush you off. I told my
doctor I got hair on my chin. He said
its not a problem.
Was 356lbs. Now 200lbs.
I am stuck at 200lbs, I wanted to lose
more but I cant, I am still on diets all
the time because my weight keeps going up.
