Foot Drop Posted: 06-25-05 13:28pm
If you haven't seen a neuro surgeon, I
would suggest it. I had total foot drop
after knee surgery. A neuro surgeon
removed my fibular head to take some of
the pressure off the paraneal nerve. It
worked immediately. I don't know whether
or not it will work in your cases, but it
is worth an inquiry. Good luck

Complications After Thr Posted: 06-25-05 18:10pm
Hi all
I don't have much to offer but will sure
be here for anyone that needs emotional
support.
I know over the past 20 months I have
really become depressed at times and its
nice to have somewhere to vent.
I think I will try to see a neuro surgeon
but have little faith that I can be
helped. Thank you dinah for the
suggestion, I am still taking narcotics
and neurotin for the pain and wear a toe
off brace to aid in walking.
Well I hope you all have a super week end
and im sending good thought to you all
diane from seattle :)

Nerve Recovery? Posted: 08-11-05 18:06pm
Fyi all: I am at month 15 of hip
replacement nerve damage... So-called
foot drop. Actually more like the whole
leg :).. As everyone knows this is very
painful. I now have some movement of the
foot, down and sideways, with muscles
cramping a lot, so it seems that the nerve
is returning slowly. I can raise up on
the ball of my foot now.
I wear an afo, or brace and this is very
important to avoid stretching the
ligaments/tendons in the foot too much.
Mostly I have conducted my own therapy
program: acupuncture with electrical
stimulation for 7 months to help muscles
not atrophy; massage adn manipulation of
foot very important and still doing now.
Swimming, some weight training for
maintain strength and walking as much as
possilbe with the brace. I dont know if
I will ever walk with use of ankle again,
but keep trying. In my case it may be
more like 3 years not 2.
By the way, neurotin did not work for me,
painkillers only made me sleep. Pain now
is almost part of life, but I would love
to get up and run!
My thoughts are with everyone who suffers
this, its hard to explain to people what's
happening, and most doctors cannot help at
all.

She quite often gets pains in the foot but

returning ? Though she cannot feel me
when touching it., was told last week by
doctor it is some sort of phantom pain as

Is seeing consultant who done op this
week. Will mention that comment by lady
about something taken out(will recheck
postings, and print off for hospital to
see.

Fibular Head Posted: 11-07-05 07:16am
Hi dianah,
re your comment on fibular head, did you
mean that you got back use of foot or that
it releived the pains in foot. Will
certainly mention it to the
hospital on thursday. One other problem
my wife has is that she also has
parkinsons though relatively mild, the
medication keeps it fairly under control,
it does confuse the issue a bit.
Sarahlee what sort of electrical
stimulation do you use, and acupuncture is
also worth a thought.
Regards all colin

Foot Drop Posted: 11-07-05 10:53am
Hi ya'll
i got the movement back in my foot after
the fibular head was removed. However,
my foot drop followed knee surgery. I'm
not sure if there is a procedure in place
to reverve a foot drop s/p hip surgery.
I would encourage you to do many
inquiries. The sooner, the better. God
bless you, diana

Foot Drop Resulting From Total Hip Replacement Posted: 03-10-06 14:19pm
Total hip replacement may 2005 resulted in
foot drop and pain! Pain was relieved
within two weeks of commencing homeopathic
medicine and gone 2 months later. Cost
approx $300.00 canadian but worth every
penny.
Question: anybody familiar with Dr.
Nath? His web www.Drnathfootdrop.Com. Claims to be able to reroute plantar
nerve to activate foot again. Does it
work? Would love to hear from anybody
who has undergone this surgery
with/without success.
