Can Anyone Advise Me?
Posted: 05-10-05 10:11am

After reading the undescended testicle forum I was inspired to ask my own similar question.
I am twenty years of age and good health, and in future years fully intend to hopefully have a family. However, I only have one testicle. I was born with two but after, what was only described to me recently as, a black spot was found on my right testicle it was (the testicle) promptly removed on the day I was born. I have asked my parents to go into further details but in vain as they get nervous and refuse to describe it as anything more than a black spot and that it's nothing to worry about.
I am, of course, worried. I am too shy to approach a doctor as I do not wish to attract any attention to this. If anyone has any ideas as to what it was and where my fertility may stand, I would be incredibly thankful.
Yours

That's a common but old fashioned euphemism for cancer - black spot.

However, if you have one fully functional testicle then I am fairly certain you have every chance of becoming a father

thank you, your reply does bring some considerable relief. However I was told that it wasn't "cancer or anything"... Were they lying?
What else could it have been that required such drastic surgery?

Ummmmmmm not unless it was maybe "strangulated"???
Ie the blood supply to it was cut off because it was twisted or something.

I don't mean to worry you but something has to be fairly serious for them to remove a testicle just after birth, you see a lot of baby boys don't even have their testicles drop from the abdomen until a few days after birth.

I hope you find out, you've got me intrigued now.
