Skin, Systemic Or Maybe Both? So Confused! Posted: 05-11-05 13:26pm
Hi there, I am 29 years old and am in the
process of being tested for lupus. This
testing has been going on for about 3
months and my doctor is fairly sure it is
lupus.
The confusing part is... I only have the
skin related symptoms... Rash on my
chest, round circular sores on my arms,
fingers... And more recently the bottoms
of my feet, face, arms, and stomach.
They didn't used to itch and now they do a
bit. I also seem to have a bit of sun
sensitivity.
Now, it gets more confusing because my
blood tests reflect anemia, low white
blood cell count and various other things
that indicate lupus. I also have had a
positive ana test.
I am hoping that it is just the skin type
lupus but the blood & ana tests show
otherwise. I am so confused and scared
and hoping to learn a lot from this
website and maybe find another person with
a similar story.
So glad you all are here!

I didn't know I had lupus until just 3
months ago. I'm pretty sure it flared up
6 months ago, but the doctor I was going
to was clueless. It started with adema in
my legs..Then they took a blood test and
found out my blood count was really low as
well. I went through a lymphnode biopsy
and a bone marrow biopsy..They still
couldn't figure it out..Then finally my
blood count got so bad and I started
getting those round sores..They took a
kidney biopsy and determined it was lupus.
I still get rashes that could lead up to
the sores, so they tell me. All I can
really say is that they need to run more
tests..Though they're not fun, they're
worth it to find out.
