Nasal Septum Surgery
Posted: 05-12-05 17:47pm

Hello everyone, thanks for having me. I had a question about corrective surgery on the nasal septum. In june i'am going in for the surgery and was wondering what to be expecting. My nose septum is not straight and air doesn't come through properly. The doctor says it's a very short day surgery about 30mins-1hr long depending on what the issue is. Has anyone had this done?? Will he reshape my nose or just reline the septum?

Thank you once again.

Take care.

If it's just your septum, then they will only work on that or the inside of your nose so it will not change your nose shape at all. I have thought about getting it done myself since I have a deviated septum as well. Although for me, I may get the rhinoplasty (which is when they change your nose shape) as well at the same time..

Do you know if changing the shape will be covered?

Unless it's for a medical necessity.. It won't be. However, if you get it done in conjunction with the other procedure, it may be cheaper if you really want it done since the hospital stay and anesthesia and such are already being covered by insurance for the other procedure.
