Young Teen--odd Symptoms--i Am Freaking Out. Posted: 05-13-05 01:22am
I had my first period I think two years
ago. It lasted for longer than two weeks,
and the flow was heavy. (heavy as in a
freaking persian cat for a tampon and
having to change it every 30 minutes).
When it stopped, I never faced another
period. They put me on birth control and
when I got to the sugar pills I started
that uber heavy flow again, but this time
I bled for a full month and a half.
I went off the pills and havent had a
period since then. I forgot about it a
few months after, then just recently
started spotting. It's not blood red
though-- it's brown. And, I dont know
what other gals smell like, but I know
since the spotting my-- aroma-- has
changed. It's more like a yeasty sweaty
smell. I know it's gross. Stop
cringing.
If I had a yeast infection, wouldnt there
be some sensation down there? I've had
yeast infections before, and I think I
recall burning. I dont feel that now...
I feel perfectly normal except for the
gross milky/clear discharge down there.
what is going on? I really dont feel like
dying any time soon.
I dont have any std. I'm a virgin, and
i'm finicky as it is about "downstairs".
I'm only 15 (turning 16 in july), and I
refuse to go in for a crotch doctor. I
know many will say I need it (in fact my
father was telling me I either go in or
die. Yeah. That's a calming thing to say
to someone who feels like their insides
are dried and turning to dust.)
my mother is one of those hippy energy
workers (no offence to any, i'm into that
too), and she claims that everything will
work itself out fine.
Before the recent spotting I was sure I
had a hormonal imbalance-- and going in to
see a crotch doctor would do me no good if
it was hormonal.
Anyone hear of anything like this? Is it
normal? Am I dying?
Come on. I'm an impatiant teen with
constant pms. I need help.

Well, the browning and smell of blood can
sometimes change when you're going off and
on birth control. I remember something
similiar happening to me when I was
younger, but it hasn't happened since.
Even if you refuse to let the gyno examine
you physically, you should at least talk
to one so they can try to help you out.
Also, getting examined, while
uncomfortable, isn't that bad and it's
something you're going to have to do
eventually. You could always request a
female doctor to make it less embarassing.

You might have a thyroid problem. I am
16 and have a friend with a thyroid
problem and her period is really off too,
when she doesn't take her pill. This
pill I speak of is this magical pill that
makes her not have mess up thyroid
symptoms.
Theres like two things your thyroid can
do, it can either spaz out and work too
quickly which means you'll most likely be
skinny, and the other one is a lazy
thyroid which means you might have excess
weight that's not all your fault.
Something like that...To see if you have a
thyoid problem, you'll have to go to a
hormoneyologyst guy. Not a crotch
doctor, as you call it.
And hey, my mom isn't a hippie, but she
believes in the healing power of food, and
doesn't let me go to a gyno cause she
thinks its a waste of time.

Wow. I like your mum.
And the whole hippy thing-- I was just
making fun of my mum.
She doesnt smoke canibus and sit at a camp
fire with a guitar in her lap singing
"gimmi a head with hair! Long beautiful
hair!".... That was last year.

I know what you mean, some people just
give off that hippie vibe. Trust me, I
know.
