The last few months my nose bleed pretty
often and i'm not sure what causes it.
Some people said maybe it caused by change
of weather or stress. But i'm not in
stress condition. Can someone tell me
what other reasons that might cause this
and what I should do? Is it really a
normal condition? Thank you.

I don't know if this will help, but my
daugher has been getting nose bleeds off
and on for the last few years. This last
april we made an appt to have her tonsils
and adnoids taken out and the Dr. Asked
us if she had allergies. We told her no
but he said that was why he believed she
had been having nose bleeds. He also
showed me the back of her nose and was
saying something about the vessels in the
back of her nose. Have you been checked
for allergies?

I just had the same problem with my nose.
Ask your doctor if he can check for any
broken vessels or small abrasions in your
nose. I had an open cut in my nose ,
caused just by blowing my nose. He
cotterized it. Thats when the doctor will
chemically seal it so it wont bleed
anymore. Ill tell you now that it hurts,
but its worth it. I havnt had another
nose bleed since. They gave me pain pills
so they should do the same for you to.
Hope this helps.

I have had the same problem. I used to
get nose bleeds so bad that I would lose
so much blood I would pass out. My
doctor told me that the blood vessels in
my nose are really close to the surface.
So any bit of irritation such as dryness
in the air like in winter can cause it.
He cauterized my nose. Boy that
hurt.....But like someone said before its
well worth it!!! That was about 3 yrs
ago and I haven't had real serious nose
bleed since. Ive probably only had 3
nosbleds in 3 yrs. For cauterization
there are two methods. One is
painless....He takes what looks like a
long match stick and rubs it around in
your nose. That didn't work for me
though. He had to stick needles in my
nose to numb it, then he stuck a metal
tube up my nose which sparked and would
burn the blood vessels so they wouldn't
bleed anymore. But like I said its
painful but worth it. I'd try the "match
stick" method first.

the Match Stick Method Is Not Always the Best! Posted: 01-31-04 23:23pm
I had the "matchstick method" as you call
it done and it hurts ! Its a chemical
that burns the inside of your nose. Not a
good thing. But it sounds better then
what you had done :d

Dry conditions in the home can cause them,
allergies, and changes in medication.

Cauterized Nose Posted: 01-29-05 08:34am
Hi!
I had my nose cauterized a few years ago
via the 'matchstick' method. Yes it hurt
just a little....Lol but all was good
until under a year later when I started to
get nose bleeds again.
Now I get them basically whenever the
weather pressure changes and it sux!
