Need Advise Do You Think It's Mine..
Posted: 05-23-05 00:31am

Ok well my g/f had her last period on feb.15 I know this b/c we had sex while she was on her period.. Then we had sex again at the end of the month on feb. 28 and like the day after.. Well 2weeks later she told me she was pragnant.. Well I was excited and still am I love her alot and would love to have a baby w/ her.. Well i've gone to a few of her dr appt. And everything seems right according to the date of her last period.. But what concerns me is that she was off to college and she didn't come back back home until feb. 15 yeah what do you know the first time I see her in about a month she starts her period.. Well ne ways I was thinking do you think that it is possible that she got pregnant by someone else before she came home.. I mean the Dr. Hasn't like changed her due date or nothing, i've just heard that you can get pregnant and still have your period. Should I worry ahoudl ask her for a test.. I know it would hurt her but we were having problems and I don't know if she was seeing someone else.. What should I do...

Hey ya,

if she has had scans and they are giving you a due date from teh scans they measure it by the growth of the baby, so if the die dats has nto hcanged and the baby is growing at the right rate then there is very little chance that its not yours.

But if you have doubts that it may not be yours there are issues there you need to deal with, shes about 12-14 weeks pregnant from what you have said and if you are stressing thinking that the baby may not be yours then you need to work a few things out before that baby is born.

Best of luck

well I want it to be mine I was just hoping that there wan't a chance.... When they did that ultrasound thing I counted back the days and it landed like 2 or 3 days before her period.. But they said that was good and everything is going well..And they didn't change the due date... So does that just mean the baby is big.. Cause big baby run in both families not real big just like 8 pounds and up.. Or is he regular size... It's all confusing I mean I know she had a period and wouldn't the Dr. Know if that wan't a real period and she was pergnant before that. Even if it was only a couple weeks or even 1 week before her period... I shouldn't worry b/c I want this baby so bad it's just she got pregnant so fast after she got here. And we've been off and on for sometime now and she never got pregnant before.

according to the u/s measurements she is about 14weeks and 4days.. Both the Dr. And the ultra sound tech said the she concieved most likley on march 1st.. Which is really confusing cuz if you count from the day she concived then wouldn't she be like 12 weeks..????

wow your in the same situation as me only i'm the woman... And i'm 22 weeks pregnant.. I did sleep w/ someone else with protection 2 days before my period. And by everything the Dr. Has told me and all the people on her, they all say not for me to worry that it is my b/f baby and I feel in my heart that it is... So for one I think it's yours and for two even if she did sleep with someone else while away the baby is still most likly yours, you need not to worry and be there for her.... Thats just my opinion if you feel a test is needed then you should do one.. To ease your mind, but I personally think that the baby is yours...

Sounds like this baby is yours and you should not worry. The docs can't pinpoint the exact conception date unless you guys rarely have sex and keep really good track of these things. Don;t worry about it.

during this time we rarley had sex.. We had sex on the 15 and 16.. And then again on the 28 and march 1 and 2.. Those were the only times we had sex. The Dr. Said her concption date was most likly around the first.. So that points to me but her measurements were like a few days ahead of her period.. Isn't this normal though.. The baby is just a little bigger than he/she is suppose to be.. But bigger babies run in are family.. People I have talked to also said that during there pregnancy they were a week or 2 ahead or behind there days.. That it is completly normal that just cause the baby measures to be a week bigger doesn't mean that he was concived then... Right???? Thanks for the advise..

I think yes the baby is most likely yours, obviously the baby was conceived after she came back from college, and you were the only one she was having sex with when she came home, if anything just talk to her about it, and say "yes I know im being a little paranoid but this is a really important thing in my life and want to be as happy and excited about it as possible, and knowing for sure the baby is mine will just give me that peace and ease in my mind, and let me just be happy and not worrying about little silly things", if you approach it to her right, hopefully she'll understand :)

the only thing that concerns me is when she had an ultra sound by the measurements when I counted back it landed a few days before her period even started, but they said that it was common for a baby to measure a little bigger or smaller and it doesn't mean that thats when they concieved because they add 2 weeks on to a womans pregnancy?? Is this true and they also said that the baby might be measuring a little bigger because he might just be a bigger baby.. So if a woman is say 14 weeks by the measurement of ultra sound then to get the conception date you would count around 12 weeks.. Am I understanding all this right.. That just because the baby measured before her period doesn't mean that he was concieved before her period. It just means that he might be alittle bigger than average.. Right some please let me know if i'm understanding this right..

Ok let me explain this to you. I am 30 wks right now. I know the exact date that I conceived because it was the only day I had sex that month. But when you conceive (usually 2 weeks after you start your period, which for your gf zach, is exactly the time you two had sex at the end of the month {feb 28, mar1, mar2} not to mention is when the doctors said she conceived ) they do not start your pregnancy tracking from the date of conception. Because for "most" people you do not know exactly what day you conceived on. So they count from your last menstrual cycle which adds about 2 weeks on to the date. (which is exactly when they are dating her pregnancy to begin for you zach, that is why it looks like she is conceived around the time of her period "she didnt really conceive then so dont worry") now, doing this makes a woman go 40 weeks worth of pregnancy...But in reality the baby is really full term around 38 weeks this is because they add on the two weeks. Do you understand this now? I am 30 wks but the baby is only really 28 wks old. That is the gestational age. Doctors go from the "last menstrual phase" to give them a more exact range of when the baby will be born. Because you can't very well go by when you had sex considering you may have had sex 6 different times in one month and could have gotten pregnant on any one of them. Do you understand now? So from that zach I can tell you without doubt, unless your gf is having sex with someone else while she is back from college the baby is yours. Because she concieved probably like the doctors said around feb 28 or mar 1.

katie, yes exactly.!!!! Stop worrying about it!!!!!!! I am almost 38 weeks (on sat) and I am measuring (from the doc measuring my stomach) at 40 weeks, also from my 32week u/s the baby was about 1lb bigger than average. Now I know I am not 40weeks along as I was away in a diff province at that time. My son is just probably gonna be bigger if I go full term. Babies are born bigger nowadays than before. Average babies used to be about 6.5-7lbs now it's more 7-8lbs, people have to remember that too.

Oh, and as far as the big for its age thing goes, the u/s counts the same way as the doctor. My baby is measuring 30 wks right now, but like I said she is only really 28 wks gestational age. So don't worry about the baby measuring big it is right where it should be if she is 14 wks by counting from the last menstrual phase and it is 14 weeks also. Sometimes though the u/s will say measuring at like 30 wks +/- 12 days. This is because they can't be exactly accurate. Understand? So today she is probably around 16 weeks, 1 day.

thank you and yes that makes me feel so much better.... So even if she is measuring a few days before her period to find out the day of conception or around I would count ahead 2 weeks right?? That makes since confusing why they do that but ok... So if she did get pregnant a few days before her period it wouldn't be 16 weeks it would be 18 right even though it was 16 weeks ago it would still be 18 because of the 2 weeks.. I see, am I understanding this right.. So what happens when someone doesn't remember there period (just out of curiosity) ok say she measured by ultra sound 20 and she didnt' remember her last period then they would tell her she concieved somewhere around 18 weeks.... Right?? Thank you for all your advise I hate to of doughted her but the whole measurement weeks thing had me thrown off.. I think i'm started to under stand now..

Okay, you got it but you must remember they automatically added this in... So if it's saying 16 weeks which she should be, they already added it in and the fetus actual age is 14 weeks. As far as not knowing when your last menstrual phase is, they can usually tell the fetus age from how early the heart is heard (usually around 9 wks), or by how big the head is measuring (going by what most babies are at that stage). Hth!

Put it to the facts... Do you trust her? Do you think she slept with someone else? If you have having those fears you need to come out and ask her
