Blood Pressure Veryhigh Posted: 05-23-05 18:51pm
When I take a dump I go red in the face.
Is this connected with high blood
pressure? Also, due to lung damage my
pressure generally has a top reading
around 170 and a bottom in the
nineties...Anyone else with such
readings? If so,what do you do about it?

Yes you have high blood pressure. Mine
runs at times 138/95 and the Dr. Put me
on bp meds at 138/100 or higher. That
your top # is in the 170s may be the
concern here, though it isn't as bad a a
high bottom # (such as mine). As far as
the red face goes, the main concern is
going to be hemmoroids caused by straining
more than a symptom of high bp. You
really need to get a lot more fiber in
your diet. Try citricel (brand name)
(it's orange flavored and watery-not
gritty). It helps me alot when I need to
use it - a few days every year or two.

Actually, saying I go red in the face
taking a dump is just me excercising some
aussie humour.....Although I am deadly
serious about being around 170/180 on the
top and 100/90ish on the
bottom...Occasionaly I get massive
headaches and had a cat scan but it came
up showing no abnormalities...Does anyone
else get headaches and are they related to
high b.P?

I used to have a slightly high blood
pressure and I tried hydrotheraphy, and
managed to bring my blood pressure down to
the normal levels.

I'm pregnant with my fourth child my bp
today was 142/90. The doctors put me on
bp meds last month, and two weeks ago they
changed it from twice a day to three times
a day. But today the changed my meds to
aldomet 500 mg. Is anyone taking the same
meds? Also do you have headaches and neck
pains?

I have high blood pressure that they have
a hard time treating, and I get headaches
constantly, so , yes, I think headaches
are related, I believe I heard they are
related to the bottom number though.
I am 28, I have been on meds since I was
22, with bp in the 140's/90's range, they
never get it much farther down than high
130's over/80's, even on 3 meds! Then a
few days ago, I ended up in the emergency
room having pvc's ( premature contractions
of your heart--feels like thunking or
skipping), my blood pressure ( on meds)
was 175/108. They said my potassium was
low wich caused the pvc wich caused my
body stress wich jumped my blood pressure
up. I have been researching potassium
levels, and I found out it being too low (
or too high) can kill you! Also
something about it possibly being related
to a adrenal gland problem. This has me
worried because since 1997, I have been
getting what doctors keep calling anxiety
attacks, where for no reason my body feels
like it was thrown into "fight or flight"
mode. You know the feeling when you are
driving and almost hit someone and that
"wave" of adrenaline rushes through? I
get that all the time for no reason. No
one has bothered to try fixing it, just
call it anxiety. But I have heard in
passing of disorders that can cause this.
If anyone has any info, or if it can be
related to low potasium levels, along with
the high blood pressure, I would
appreciate the info. I am trying to come
up with a way to convince my doctor he
needs to do a bit more than "watch and
see" with me. The trip to the er was very
scary, and I dont want to do that again,
or worse! I have constant headaches and
dizziness, also that the doctor has told
me to live with, its anxiety. But I am
not anxious. I have a good life, I am
happy, I dont get stressed normally when
these attacks occur, I only feel stresed
when I end up in the hospital!!!

I think the flushing is from the pvc, and
I believe they can be cause from hbp. My
son ended in the hospital 3 different
times, pvc symptoms then all goes away.
Heart dr found nothing when testing,
except right when he is having the
flushing, hbp, and pvc. Then they say
anxiety meds.-- well the anxiety comes
from the feelings of thumping, missed
beats and heart going too fast then
suddenly going slow again, the flushing
feelings etc, etc....
He had to quit smoking pot, it was raising
his bp too much and causing these, no
caffeine, no diet pills, no speed of any
kind. Now, completely normal. His bp
has been high since 16 years old, but they
never gave him meds for it. He is now
20.
Now the headaches--i had migraines for 8
years, every week or 2, for 8 years.
Usually last 3 days in a row.(no lights,
no sound, laying in bed) they finally
gave me a migraine med that was a miracle
drug and they would stop the migraine
before it would start--you know when the
spots come before your eyes--take meds and
no migraine. But for years I knew it was
my bp. I would sweat like a boy, but
they never found high bp when I would go
to the Dr. 140/95 or so. But when they
finally diagnosed hbp it was 168/105.
And then they put me on meds, have not had
a migraine since then. Come to find out
I am one of those pple who started out
with low bp--105/65--even as low as 95/60.
So when I was 140/95 I was already high
for me. And extremely high.
Then finally had a heart attack that made
me be on 2 different bp pills and low and
behold my bp returned to normal 105/65.
But another strange thing--when my spinal
cord was damaged from my spinal condition
my blood pressure returned to very low, do
not sweat anylonger, and I have trouble
keeping my body temperature up. My
pressure was 90/45 freaked me out--but
many of the old symptoms went away--even
when they find my pressures high now. No
sweating, ever, no headaches, ever, cant
keep myself warm. I was so accustomed to
the sweating--now I feel cold without it.
I am cold without it. Strange huh??

For the record, since I have worked in the
medical feild- 140/95 is high blood
pressure. Anything over 130/70 is
considered prehypertension. Docotrs
normally want it in the 120/60 or 70ish
range to be "normal"
they let you go too long if they wernt
treating you at all at 145/95.

Well they didnt treat it although I was
also complaining of the migraines at the
time, like I said for me--especially high.

You have all sorts of problems...Odd that
you still have no proof of that abdominal
baby...Especially with high blood
pressure, you should be under constant
care I would think in a situation like
that. Most doctors have to keep very
close watch on a normal pregnancy with
hypertension.
