Chance of Having a Big Baby?????
Posted: 05-25-05 13:39pm

Ok I went to the Dr. Today and i'm 22 weeks according to my lmp. But by ultra sound and when they measure my stomach with that tape measure thing i'm 23 weeks.. What does this mean.. My mom had not huge babies but all 8 pounds and up me being the smallest 8 pounds she didn't have none over 9pounds though.. She had 5 kids.. Are my chances of me having a big baby larger since my mom did.. Or does this jsut mean that I concived earlier than I thought I did? The only time I could have gotten pregnant after my period was on dec.31 jan 1 and jan 2.. My last period was dec. 19? Has anyone ever had there baby measure bigger than they were suppose to?

My baby measures bigger than average. I will be 36 weeks on saturday and at my last u/s at 32 wekks the doc said he's about 1/2 lb bigger than average. I was told if I go full term then he may be between 8-9 lbs. It's funny cause I was only 6lb 14oz, and my bf was 6lb,12oz.

It's not a huge deal if they are measuring about a week diff.

When you get your glucose testing done they will see if you are diabetic which can cause babies to come out bigger. I wasn't, i'm just have a biggish boy-lol

good luck

You could just be carring alot of amniotic fluid.

I would listen to what the ultrasound scans tell you, because thats whats really measuring the baby.

If the midwife says everything is fine then everything more than lickly is.

Im guessing that you will probally end up having an 8-9 pounder.

Good luck :)

how does the amniotic fluid make you measure bigger than your suppose to?? By ultra sound i'm 24 weeks so would that mean that I concieved about 22 weeks ago... Thanks for the advise..

she means when measuring, it's possibl ethat when they are measuring you bigger it's cause of extra amniotic fluid. Go more by what the u/s says.

I am my Dr. Didn't change my due date even though my baby measured a week ahead.. Is it normal to measure a week ahead.. When I count back from the u/s measurements it lands like 5 days before my period.. Is that normal?? That doen't mean that I conicieved then does it.. B/c when I asked the u/s tech so when did I concieve then she said anywhere from dec. 25 to jan 3.. And the measurements landed like on dec. 14 I think and my last period was on dec. 19?? I don't understand why they add that 2 weeks in there...

You could just be having a bigger baby. 1 week either way does not make a huge diff-don't stress so much over it. At my 32 week u/s my baby was measuring like I was 36 weeks. They said "oh he's gonna be a big one" now at almost 37 weeks I can just imagine his size. Lol

go to this link to see why they add the 2 weeks.
http://pregnancy.About.Co m/od/pregnancycalendar/

click on "the calendar" and go week by week it'll explain it to you.

they can't be exactly sure unless you had sex once in the week or something. They tell me my conception date was oct 2 and I was away that day so I know it wasn't then but I do know when the last day of my period was. On that site I gave you there's a due date calculator, it askd for the last period, but you could play with the day untill it gives you the right conception day.

Having a Big Baby?
Posted: 06-06-05 12:55pm

Hi there
panicking. Seriously. Just came back from my 20 week, well, now 21 week. Doctor is suggesting for the ninetieth time I might be having a "big" baby. Unlike you fortunate souls, I was 9lbs, 10 oz at birth and although I am not exactly petite now, I am of average-normal weight and height. My husband (6'4") was a peanut of barely 7 pounds at birth. So, I am a little nervous, what does this mean, he said " they don't want him to get too big" what is that? Do they induce you? Feeling weird.

yes they might induce, have you had your glucose test yet? Probably not, that too could have to do with his size. If you have gest diabetes, baby could be bigger.

I am having a bigger than average baby. He was weighing 1lb more than avrage at my 32 week u/s. It's funny cause both hubby and I were 6lbs something when born and the doc is telling me if I go full term , then my boy could be about 9lbs. I'm due in about 2 1/2 weeks and am hoping he comes a lil early so i'm not pushing out a huge baby.

Yeah we ended up reversing the name because it went with our last name better.... But yeah its okay so many of my girlfriends still call him dyllie... Or dylan because that was his name my whole pregnancy since 18 weeks...So I dont mind, and my mom calls him zachary dylan together as one...

Yeah I turned 19 woo hoo haha so sad such a youngin

Big Baby??
Posted: 06-09-05 21:46pm

At 16 weeks (according to u/s), I measured 17 weeks. No due date change. At 30 weeks, I measured 31 weeks. No due date change. Now, at 34, 35, & 36 weeks, i've measured only 34 weeks (for all 3 weeks). No due date change. My dr isn't concerned at all, he says you can have bigger growth months, and months with a little less growth. As long as all baby's vital signs are the same, I wouldn't worry.

i am 36 weeks and my measurements are showing big baby, i have to see my consultant tomorrow to see if he wants to scan me or not. They are not worried about it as they have said like quoted at the top carrying alot of fluid, you may have a full bladder or depends how the baby is lying inside. I would wait to see what the scan shows. Laughing
