10 Yr Old Daughter Has No Front Teeth Posted: 05-28-05 06:29am
:( my 10 year old dtr still has no front
teeth. When she was about 5, I noticed
one of her baby teeth began to yellow. I
was told by my dentist not to worry. It
was a baby tooth and it wouldn't effect
the permanent teeth. Prior to her
entering 3rd grade her front baby teeth
were pulled. 6 mos later she still had
no front teeth. I requested an
orthodontist consult. They felt that her
jaw was too small so they put an expander
in the roof of her mouth. 6 mos later I
was referrred to an oral surgeon who
discovered she had extra teeth. 6 mos
later after finally getting insurance to
approve, she had her teeth pulled. She
had 3 extra teeth. I was told we should
see movement within 3-6 mos. However, it
has been 5 and still nothing. We were
told at our last orthodontist appt. That
she may need surgery again because her
teeth are too comfortable and are not
coming down. Has anyone encountered a
problem like this? I feel helpless. My
daughter is a social little girl but
becoming very self-conscious and not
wanting to smile anymore. It is breaking
my heart.
