After Going Off of the Pill, Is a Missed Period Normal?
Posted: 11-11-03 02:10am

After taking the birth control pill for over two years, I had to go off of the pill last month because I was not able to get a new supply in time. I am not currently sexually active so I did not see it as being a problem. However, my period is now two weeks late. As I said, I am not currently sexually active (meaning I have had no sex in the month I have been off of birth control) and the last time I had any sort of intimate relation with anyone was 3 1/2 months ago. This was not sexual intercourse and I had received three periods after this time. As a result, I am wondering if this is simply a normal side effect of going off of the pill after such an extended period of time, or if this is a sign of some underlying medical condition. Meaning, should I discuss this with my doctor or is this something completely normal? If anyone has been in a similar situation, I would appreciate your feedback.

Its just because you went off your birthcontrol. I read that being on it for such a long time, it had control of your hormones to regulate your periods but then since you got off. It doesnt have that control anymore and your body is getting that together. You should be fine but see a doc if you still dont get one.

This is totally normal-dont panic! Remember,ur bodies getting used 2 producing its own hormones again as its no longer relying on artifical ones-it may take u a while 2 get back 2 normal
