I'm beginning to seriously suspect I have
an anxiety problem, and wonder if
medication and/or treatment might help me.
I feel like my anxiety is holidng me
back from living a full life, and i've
just been putting up with it for way too
long.
Has anybody dealt with this? Had any
success? I don't even know where to get
started.
Thanks.

Look up social anxiety disorder on the net
also see the paxil website, although
expensively promoted for social anxiety,
paxil is really just 1 of many prozac type
meds but can help a lot

I used to have this problem to much of an
extream, a few years back I went to see a
specialist in my area (was probley the
first time I had left the house in a few
weeks) and we had a very long disgustion
about my experiences, his conclusion was
that not only was this a social anxiety
but at one point a social phobia, I
remember fearing for my life to goto
school/work and I had no idea why. My
advice is to start off slowly, the best
way I think of getting rid of this fear is
to get out and challange your self,
embarrassing yourself in public works well
(lol seems like a joke but its true, well
atleast for me that is), think of a moment
that you had alot of anxiety and keep
challanging yourself to do that, over and
over until its like nothing too you, think
about watching a scarey movie with a
friend, if he was to lean over and tell
you every scarey part of the movie, good
chance it wouldn't live up to the genra of
horror. As for meds, I would sudjest
"effexor", ive tried paxil and it just
seem to create more problems then it
solve, then again that could just be me...
Anyways I wish you the best of luck, if
you have any question don't be afraid to
ask me ^-^

Paxil Versus Other Meds Posted: 07-18-05 13:20pm
I agree with the previous post. I had no
luck with paxil. The side effects were
awful, and tapering off was terrible. I
tried lexapro and had the same experience.
I won't try an ssri again. I am now on
an "as needed" medication, alprazolam
(xanax), and my doctor suggested maybe
trying valium in the future because it
lasts longer during the day. Anyone have
any experience with valium versus xanax?
