Can I Get Pregnant After Being On Birth Control For So Long
Posted: 05-30-05 11:05am

I recently got off my neuvoring 3 weeks ago. I have been on birth control since I was 16 and i'm now 32 for irregual periods. Even on birth control my periods are only 2 days at most and light. At one point a few years ago I didn't have a period for 9 months and had to have provera to make me have a cycle, so my cycles are not normal. I wanted to get off my birth control to see if i'm capable of having a period on my own but my boyfriend and I had sex during my period in which I had just came off my ring and he came in me. We also had sex 15 days after that in which I never started my neuvoring back. What are the chances of me becoming pregnant since i've been on birth control for so long this quick?

A friend of mine on another forum was on bc for like 10 years and she got pregnant the month after she came off of it. There is chance you can be preggy especially since you had sex about 15 days after your period which is when women usually ovulate. Wait and see, that's all I can say. I know you're periods are irregular but if you have no period for a month or so, take a preg test, is it comes out neg, go to a docs' and get a blood test done. Good luck!

(i think blaze may be talking about me. ;o) )
hi i'm jamie.....I started birth control at age 16 and stopped last summer (age 27)....(11 years). And a month later I was pregnant....And a month ago I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, nicolas. Your chances are still there. Don't believe that it's "hard" after being on birth control for so long. Look at it this way if it's hard to believe....Woman get pregnant while **on** it...So you can when you come off. Use protection always, there is no way to not except abstinence! Hope that helped!

lol I was talking about you!!!

Ok, now i'm really paranoid. I have active kidney stones in both kidney's in which have not passed in 6months. I was diagnosed with them back in january. So my doctor did an ivp test on me this past friday. It is a scan of xrays, etc, with dye contrast. I am now worried about the time we were together when I was on my period more than the most recent during my ovulation time of this weekend since that was after the xray.

Should I be worried? Maybe I need to contact my doctor

Wouldn't a test be too early right now. It's only been 17 days from the first time and 1 day from the most recent?

I have not taken one and will do that today.

Well, talked to my doctor and they said they are not so worried about the time during my menstrual cycle. But yesterday is another story. My boyfriend and I will just have to wait and see. Thanks for all the help.

Hi there! I have known of ladies that have been on b/c for almost 20 yrs. Sometimes things do not happen overnight and sometimes they do, I have also known of women getting pregnant during menopause and that is pretty much always a shocker, if it is meant to be, it will happen. Have you ever thought about adoption, their are alot of good babies and children out their that need a good home and love.
Good luck to you!
Sincerely,
sandy
