Please, can someone tell me if it's
schizophrenia?
Here's some points about my dad:
-has no real friends...All our family
friends are met though my mom
-is convinced that my mom is lying and
cheating on him with all their male
friends
-talks to himself in whisper, he says
things like "promiscuous person" "b*tch"
etc
-his brother and mother are both
schizophrenic
-enjoys reading about hitler, but denies
it (he says he just enjoys world history
but has a huge collection of ww2 books)
-is extremely smart (he's into
mathematics) and logical
-analyzes every word you say
-has a really bad temper
-is very paranoid (about the smallest
dumbest things!)
-often sits alone in his room writing
things in his agenda and planning his
life
-hates women, jews, blacks and other races
(does not openly admit to it)
-likes to be alone
-is extremely terrified of physical pain
of any kind (constantly measures his heart
pulse and is deathly afraid of electrical
shocks)
there's no signs of hallucinations yet but
according to my dad, "a close friend of
ours asked my mom for an affair and she
said no". This never happened!! He
continually asks my mom when this guy
asked her this but it never happened so my
mom says never and it's making him more
angry and paranoid. He now believes that
all their friends know something about
this and are all denying it!
Please help
my parents are going to get a divorce if
my dad won't stop this.

If this helps I enjoy reading about
similar stuff, I say that it's educational
but really I just like reading dark stuff,
about serial killers and stuff. It's
pretty bad though I guess. I'm smart and
analytical as well
"-often sits alone in his room writing
things in his agenda and planning his
life"
that's me exactly, and i'll pace around
the room thinking for hours ^
i haven't gotten checked out by a doctor
yet. I don't know if this is helpful to
you, probably not

Yes it's helpful! I wanted to know if
other people with this disease act the
same way. But you said you have not been
diagnosed, right?
I don't know if my dad is hallucinating or
not but he constantly talks about how he
pressed my mom to the wall and she
confessed that she cheated on him. But
again, this never happened, and he has
only hit her once and I witnessed it.
Could he maybe have envisioned this in his
head?
I have another question though, when he
talks to himself is it possible that he's
actually talking to other "people" or
voices?

I haven't been diagnosed, although I
suspect I may have it.
It's possible that he's talking to other
voices but then again it might not be the
case. I talk to myself but i'm not
talking to anyone else, although i've
heard voices and reacted to them.

He does not admit to seeing or hearing
anything yet he has delusions. He
strongly believes that my mom's best
friend is an alcoholic and that she's
turned my mom into one. When he talks to
himself it's usually in the kitchen and
since he's a clean freak he spends hours
wiping all the counters to make sure
there's no drops of water anywhere, not
even in the sink. That's when he talks to
himself. It looks like he is talking to
people he hates like my mom's best friend
and such. Or maybe he's practising what
he wants to say to them. Sometimes I have
lunch in the kitchen or so and I see him
doing this and he would wipe the same spot
for 20 minutes without noticing that it's
already clean. I used to tease him and
say things like "what was that? I didn't
hear you" as if he was speaking to me, but
now I am just simply scared as to what's
happening to him.

To me it just sounds like he is a little
different and probably paranoid. If he
was having schizophrenic symptoms, his
delusions would probably be much worse.
Im just speaking from experience tho, im
no expert.

It sounds like he should get help to me, I
know how painful it is to be obsessed like
that and I should get help too because
it'd make things less stressful.
When I talk to myself i'm replaying
conversations I had with other people and
thinking about what they mean over and
over till they lose meaning to me, most of
the time it's in my head but it's a big
waste of time, I also stress out over
little unimportant things

But How? Posted: 06-02-05 20:47pm
How can I help him, though, if he doesn't
want it? He thinks that nothing is wrong
with him and he will not see a doctor.
This behaviour has been happening on and
off for about 5 years but there's never
been delusions. He visited the doctor in
the past and it helped him but this time
he refuses. Also, he's scared of taking
medication or any pills. He's very
paranoid and always thinks people want to
cheat him. He said that the doctors will
inject him with something and he will go
crazy. How can we help him as a family in
this case?

Schizo Help Posted: 06-17-05 15:37pm
I have been trying to figure out what is
wrong with my brother in law and he has
basically the same symptoms. If you want
to know from some experts what
schizophrenia really is, then I suggest
that you look at this little video.
the video is called inside schizophrenia,
and it is about 16 minutes long. It
really made up my mind for me that my
brother-in-law really might be schizo. I
hope it helps you.
