Telling Someone You Have Hpv Posted: 05-31-05 16:43pm
I'm getting into a relationship with a
wonderful woman and we haven't had sex
yet. My last girlfriend has unknowingly
passed along hpv to me and I have been
treated for genital warts and have
followed up with aldara which has worked
well from keeping the warts from coming
back.
Has anyone had experience with telling
someone that they have hpv and have had
genital warts? How was the conversation
and how were things after you told
him/her? I've never had to have an std
conversation with someone before so i'm
pretty nervous about the "talk" and will
be real bummed if that person decides to
end things because of hpv. Thank you for
your input.

I would suggest educating her as much as
possible about hpv such as printing out
articles and such from the internet and
letting her know what risks are involved
as far as your physical relationship goes.
Just be honest with her and she will
appreciate it in the long run.
My status isn't confirmed yet but my
ex-boyfriend of six years was just
diagnosed so I figure I have to have it.
He's had symptoms before and just didn't
bother to tell me while we were together.
I went to my doctor and am waiting the
results. My current boyfriend though
has been very understanding about the
situation and insists he loves me anyway.
He would risk getting hpv if it meant
not being able to be with me.
I've done all that I can and let him know
that if my status is positive, he could be
at risk for getting hpv as well and he
understands. At this point I feel (as
does he) that it's his choice.
