I just started using insulin this morning,
and although I was told by my doctor to
feel free to ask any questions I would
like to hear what actual diabedics have to
say. First, when injecting myself (god I
hate that phrase) I was told to pinch my
skin around the upper or lower areas
around my stomach. Right off I have a
problem. Unlike women, when men are
overweight, as I am, we are very firm. I
liken it to trying to inject a watermelon.
Thus it is very difficult to get any
skin at all. Any ideas? Also, I suffer
from sad (social anxiety disorder) and
already I feel a depression coming on. I
look at taking insulin as a failure and
something, since I am 60, I will be stuck
with (pardon the pun) for the rest of my
life. I may have other questions but I
think i'll wait to see if I get any
answer.

First you may want to ask your doctor but
you can stick yourself as well in your arm
(upper back fatty portion) and it works
just as well. My husband is isulan
dependant and he perfers the arm(says its
less painfull). My husband also has
s.A.D along with many other things but he
is on medication for s.A.D(wellbruten)(sp)
and (zoloft) and he has adjusted well to
that. He still has a problem going into
really big crowds but is now more
comfortable in situations like with church
and family. If you ever have any ? Ask
me im no professional but I can tell the
experiences my husband and I have delt
with with his conditions.
