Post Gallbladder Removal Query. Posted: 06-03-05 11:24am
I had my gb removed in january and my
insides have been somewhat messed up since
then. It's been great to clear up some of
the queries I had simply by reading
previous posts. My doc (not a gp) did not
explain what the ramifications that could
happen if I had it removed so I was rather
under the impression at the time all would
go back to 'normal' gee how wrong
was i! I've always eaten a low fat meal
mostly consisting of grilled chicken salad
or pasta. I still have the very
unconfortable feeling that my stomach is
full of concrete which is what made me go
to the hospital in first case. Is the
dreaded d and the increadable gas likely
to improve in the slightest given time or
is this it?? If this is it then how do
you work out what the heck is causing it
in order to avoid certain foods (and what
are they likely to be?) and if I can get
this under a bit of control, will I be
able to loose any weight as i've lost 130
pounds but can't shift any more. Anyone
with advice or links for more reading???

Hello,
i had my gb removed at the end of march
and am dealing with a bunch of problems
since. I have alot of gas/belching and
alternating diarrhea and constipation.
For the diarrhea I read somewhere that
there are drugs you can take for that
which are called questran or colestid. I
also read on another board that calcium
carbonate is good for absorbing the excess
bile/liquids in the intestines, but can
sometimes cause contipation if not taken
right.
I get the "brick" feeling in the stomach
at times too. If I eat too much
fatty/spicy/greasy foods I get cramps and
nausea and then the dreaded "d". Not fun
at all. But at least I am not dealing
with the pains I had before the gb was
removed!
Sorry I couldn't be more help but I do
understand your frustration!
