Tummy Tuck
Posted: 06-04-05 09:37am

The question I am asking is, is it more painful than a c-section? Since I have experienced being cut open. Have you had c-sections before and then experienced a tummy tuck. And they dont necessarily cut the muscles in a tummy tuck, it all depends on your muscle tone. I have very good muscle tone because I work out 4 days a week. So therefore the 2 plastic surgeons I did see said they would not cut them but just suture them a little tighter. I have heard many people say that a c-section is worse than a tummy tuck. Do you have an answer to my question of the pain and the difference?

Thanks!!!

I've had 2 c-sections. The first was emergency, and was a vertical incision. The 2nd was the horizontal bikini-line cut. The 2nd c-sec was far less painful than the 1st (i was up and walking the same day with the 2nd, and shuffling around like an ancient woman for weeks in pain with the 1st/vertical).

I am 1 month post-op from my tummy tuck. I love my results, and found it about in-between the 2 c-sections pain-wise. The pain was not too bad, and most certainly worth the results. I would do it a million times over for the difference in made.

Hope that helps...Glad to answer any specifics if I can.

Thanks alot for the words of advise. I did go through with it and I am 12 days post op. I am still a bit swollen, but love the way I looked the 2nd day my plastic surgeon took off the binder, and it looks better and better everyday. My stretch marks are gone and so is my pouch. The pain was not bad at all, very controllable. I did have a pain pump for the first 48 hours which kept me a bit numb, the worst of it is that I could not stand straight and my back is killing me, but I am doing fine now and am very glad that I did not chicken out. I have a great doctor and love the work he did. He is always calling to check up on me to make sure I am feeling good. I had the drain removed after only 4 days, because I had no fluids, I did not even bleed much during the surgery. This is all worth it, my tummy is flat. And by the way congrats to you for doing it and feeling good about yourself. Thanks again.

Congrats to you, too. I hear you on the back thing...It does put a lot of strain on the back being bent over like that. I think you'll turn a corner really soon on that, and find that it gets a lot better pretty fast.
