Blackouts
Posted: 11-11-03 23:08pm

I am 22 weeks pregnant and over the past few weeks have experienced three blackouts. They are as if someone has turned the lights off and I can not see anything. It goes away in a few seconds and there are no lingering effects except for some lightheadedness. I have become a little worried and was wondering if this has happened to any of you? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I haven't had blackouts necessarily but I have had several episodes when I feel like I am going to pass out. I get very hot and sweaty and light-headed. I talked to my Dr. And he said I need to eat several small meals a day instead of eating three big ones. I have found that it happens when I get hungry. Have you noticed when these blackouts are occuring? Is it when you haven't eaten for a while? It may just be low blood sugar. I'm sure its nothing to worry about, but I would still bring it up to your doctor.

A friend of mine is pregnant and she experienced a blackout a couple of months ago.I think her blood pressure was up a little bit. They said she is fine and her doctors weren't concerned at all.

I went to the dr yesterday and he thinks its my blood sugar levels. I'm scheduled for the glucose tolerance test in a few weeks but in the meantime he wants me to eat fruit and veggie snacks throughout the day. Hopefully, this will help. Thanks for the advice though.
