Help In Identifying Disorder Posted: 06-05-05 21:18pm
I am frustrated with the whole medical
establishment! My dad (87) has been in
the hospital for twelve days. Symptoms in
the past six months have been: upper body
rash with severe itching - never
diagnosed, went away; severe weight loss;
reflux-like gag and choke on occasion
while swallowing, says things seem to get
'stuck'; serious anemia (count at nine a
few months back, (bone marrow tests showed
no evidence of leukemia) less than six
when he was admitted to the hosp, took
four units of whole blood to stabilize
him); endoscopy and colonoscopy only
showed 'some erosion'; ct scans show a
mass on the neck of the pancreas but blood
tests (my research didn't say there were
any blood tests for this) don't support
pancreatic cancer; too weak at this point
for a biopsy as all of their poking has
left him with phlebitis and blood clots in
both arms and leg; depression (gee, I
wonder why!) and now just an all over body
ache and sensitivity to touch. He has had
severely dry eyes and macular degeneration
for years. Prostate cancer treated with
radium? Implants about ten years ago.
Now just has the usual urinary urgency and
occasional leaking. Does all of this add
up to anything that anyone has ever heard
of? Lupus and fibromyalgia both came to
my mind but neither one usually includes
the severe anemia. Any thoughts are
welcome. Thanks :?
