Pregnant On Birth Control..?? Posted: 06-08-05 19:03pm
Hi, I just left another post earlier about
the hpt but I have more to ask!
Ok we'll I have been on birthcontrol for
about 10 months and last month I started
spotting the saturday before the sunday I
was supposed to start the inactive pills
(if you get that...) so instead of taking
the inactive pills I figured I was getting
my period and started a new pack...
Basically I spotted for the straight 3
weeks lightly and figured something was
wrong so I went to the gyno. I was on
ortho tricylen lo and he told nme to try
yasmin. Well for the past week ive been
feeling so pregnant. My breasts are soar,
a few days ago I was gettingmore like a
tinglying in my stomach and starting
yesterday ive been getting more like
shooting pains quickly in my lower and
upper abdomen, I had horrible heart burn
2day, and this morning I woke up nd like
jumped outa bed because I felt queezy
(didnt throw up tho... Felt better after
I walked around for a few mins)
plus im just getting bigger
my boyfriend and I have never used a
condom because I started bc before we even
started having sex and sometimes im not
increadbly accuarate with taking my
pills-- wats this sound like to you?
My hpt was negative but im so anxious rite
now because I shouldnt be getting my
period acording to the pill till monday
thanks!

Well I got pregnant twice on the pill as a
teenager but miscarried both times.
The symptoms you are having could either
be pregnancy or the fact that you
continued on with the piils instead of
taking the sugar pills or the switch to
the new type of pills. If the doc had
thought you were pregnant he would not
have told you to continue with the pill or
change to a new one.
Weight gain does not usually start for a
few months and heartburn only starts
around the 3rd tri, as the baby is pushing
up against you. Also even if you are
supposed to start monday you could have
messed with your cycle by starting the new
pack right away last month.
I'd wait till next weekend and if still no
period, take another test or go back to
the doc's.

Yes agree with her. Birth control is
great for one thing and then other things
happen as a result. Let us know what
happens

Yeah I agree with the previous people, I
had a friend that got pregnant on birth
control twice and carried both of them
full term. However, in your case, usually
a doctor will give a pregnancy test if he
suspects that you may be pregnant before
issuing out more birth control. My doctor
tested me for it everytime I went in for
anything considering my birth control.
Plus they can tell by just feeling the
uterus area whether you may or may not be
pregnant. And heartburn for me did not
really start until I was in my 6th or 7th
month. As for the temperature, it is not
such a high increase that you can tell
from your body, the only way you could
tell an increase is if you have a fever.
Normal preovulation temps are between 96.0
and 97.4 (depending on the person) and
afterovulation temps are only like one
point higher than that like if your pre
temps were 96.7 your after would only have
to be like 97.7. Make sense? Anyway you
probably aren't pregnant birth control can
really mess with your body if you don't
take it the way you are supposed to. Your
body is probably just confused. Hth. If
you are still worried though go to the
gyno and tell them your concerns. Take
care.

It is possible that your hormone levels
have been a little messed up though, and
the pill can sometimes mimic pregnancy
symptoms, especially nausea and breast
tenderness.
My own personal experience-
i was on birth control pills from the time
I was 17, and was like clockwork with
them. I stayed on them even when I was
single (3 years!)
i used to sometimes skip the inactive
ones, and go straight through months
without having any periods. I had no
problems with doing this.
When I fell pregnant, it was the last
thing I expected. In fact, I actually
thought perhaps i'd been on the pill too
long, and had become completely infertile,
or that I was dying of cancer when my
periods stopped.
I had no other symptoms of pregnancy at
all.
So anything's possible !! I guess i've
been no help at all
